STATE COLLEGE — The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau announced on Tuesday, Sept. 3, its new partnership with Penn State wrestling standout Carter Starroci.

HVAB and Starroci are starting a YouTube and social media series called “Carter’s Drive and Dine for Five.” It will follow Starroci’s preparation and goals during his quest for an unprecedented fifth national championship. The show will feature special guests as well as popular restaurants throughout Happy Valley.

In March, Starroci won his fourth NCAA national championship in the 174 lb weight class. Shortly after, he announced he would be returning to Penn State for his fifth year to end his career on his terms. Now, as he goes after his fifth championship, HVAB will give fans a chance to follow along.

“On a mission to make history once again. The vision is clear, and I’m locked in on leaving an unforgettable legacy in State College,” Starroci said. “This season is a chance to share that journey with you, thanks to The Happy Valley Adventure Bureau. It’s going to be an epic season, and I can’t wait to have you guys along for the ride.”

The series is set to display Starroci’s elite winning mindset while also giving credit to local eateries and the impressive chefs in Happy Valley.

“In pursuing his fifth individual wrestling title, he is attempting something that hasn’t been achieved in college athletics,” HVAB President and CEO Fritz Smith said. “We are thrilled to be part of his journey in pursuing wrestling greatness, and delighted that the county’s dynamic dining scene is helping to fuel his performance.”

This is an early move in HVAB’s comprehensive marketing strategy as it looks to take advantage of the new era of college athletics. With athletes now able to take advantage of their name, image and likeness, companies all over the country are rushing to land deals with some of the most recognizable faces in sports.

HVAB is in the right place to take advantage of Penn State’s star-studded athletes as it has with Starroci. HVAB also hinted at another high-profile partnership to be announced later this month.
