STATE COLLEGE — Centre Area Transportation Authority riders now have access to free Wi-Fi aboard all CATA transit vehicles, making it easier to stay connected while traveling throughout the Centre Region.
The new onboard Wi-Fi service is available across CATA’s fleet, including fixed-route buses and CATAGO! and CATARIDE vehicles, allowing riders to use their travel time to check work email, complete school assignments, stay connected with friends and family, and more.
“People rely on CATA every day to get to work, school, appointments, and everywhere else they need to be,” said CATA CEO Todd Horsley. “We’re always looking for practical ways to improve the customer experience. Adding free Wi-Fi is a simple improvement that makes the ride more convenient and gives our customers another reason to choose CATA.”
The onboard Wi-Fi rollout is part of CATA’s ongoing efforts to improve its services with customer-focused enhancements. Recent improvements include expanded digital payment options, major accessibility upgrades to the CATA website, and continued commitment to making transit easier to access and use.
“Connectivity is an important part of life these days, and we want riders to be able to make the most of their time on board,” said Donny Lynch, CATA’s Director of Information Technology. “As with any public Wi-Fi, we encourage following basic digital security practices, including using secure websites and avoiding sensitive transactions on shared networks.”
CATA’s onboard Wi-Fi is intended to provide riders with convenient internet access while they travel. Connection guidelines and instructions will be available to riders when they log in to the CATANET Wi-Fi network.
