UNIVERSITY PARK — The Centre Area Transportation Authority announced two Penn State football game day routes that will provide service to games this fall.
CATA will offer a Downtown Shuttle that will cover the downtown State College area and a South Atherton Shuttle that will provide service from Hills Plaza and other South Atherton Street locations.
The shuttles will begin three hours before each football game’s kick-off and run until one hour after each game ends. Bus stops will be marked with Game Day Shuttle signage to indicate what routes are being served from the stop.
Both shuttles will cost $2.20 per one-way trip, and can be paid by cash, token or bus pass, though exact fare must be used if paying in cash.
Day passes are available for $6 and can purchased on the Token Transit mobile app. Individuals presenting a valid U.S. Medicare card or a CATA Reduced Fare Identification Card may ride for a half fare of $1.10; those 65 and older with a Senior Transit Identification Card and children under 40 inches tall ride free.
“Riders are encouraged on game days to anticipate delays on both the shuttles and on CATABus fixed-route service throughout the day, which can result from traffic congestion,” a statement from CATA advised. “Information on service updates and real-time route and schedule information is available through the myStop mobile app and at realtime.catabus.com.”
