Central PA United to host Affordability Event in State College

Centre County Gazette

STATE COLLEGE — Central PA United, an organization of working-class people advocating around working-class issues, is hosting an event at Sidney Friedman Park, 241 S. Fraser St., State College, on May 3 from 1 to 4 p.m. The event is part of Central PA United’s work to address the affordability crisis.

Expect to see some tents and canopies in the parklet as advocates and nonprofits that work directly with people affected by affordability issues, ranging from housing and utilities to transportation, will be present to educate people about their work within Centre County.

Beginning at 2 p.m., people will provide their testimonials, sharing their struggles with the rising costs of housing, transportation, and medical treatment. After this, Central PA United will share the current results of its affordability survey to highlight the concerns and trends of various members of the communities. Elected officials of all levels have been invited to attend this event.

Take the opportunity to get educated about the affordability crisis we face, engage with different advocates and nonprofits that work to address these issues and take the opportunity to become empowered to make a difference in our community.

A community meal will also be provided to those who attend.

Those planning to attend should register at www.mobilize.us/paunited/event/923650/.

Participation by Centre County residents is also encouraged by completing the Affordability Survey at www.docs.google.com/forms/d/1hiDfV8qIH8s8HOXaWgdyFRhElVmAkmvxmoBrP25lhts/
