UNIVERSITY PARK, Pa. — The eighth annual Centre Film Festival announces two opening night programs and a new EU-supported academic initiative at Penn State: La Bola Negra, preceded by Kiloran Bay, at the State Theatre in State College on Nov. 2, and Jimmhy, preceded by Anodynus, at the Rowland Theatre in Philipsburg on Nov. 6.
Tickets are on sale now for both events at CentreFilm.org. The first 100 ticket buyers for the Jimmy screening will receive a special-edition commemorative Jimmy movie patch. Tickets for veterans are sponsored by Vet Tix; veterans must register at VetTix.org to request tickets.
Running Nov. 2–8, the multigenerational festival connects local voices with global ones through films, visiting artists, workshops, masterclasses and conversations. Its program spans high school filmmakers and established artists, kid-friendly screenings, Made in PA films, stories from the Middle East and selections honoring Native American Heritage Month. All programming is free for students.
This year also introduces an America250 spotlight on Puerto Rico, co-hosted with Happy Valley Latin Fest, exploring the island’s stories, creative traditions and complicated history.
Founded in 2019, the Centre Film Festival presents programming on Penn State’s University Park campus and at venues across Centre County. For tickets, schedules and festival updates, visit CentreFilm.org.
