STATE COLLEGE — Centre LifeLink EMS of State College has received re-accreditation from the Commission on Accreditation of Ambulance Services for its compliance with national standards of excellence. Centre LifeLink first became accredited by CAAS in 1999 and has undergone, and received, reaccreditations every three years since.
Centre LifeLink is just under 200 ambulance services in the country to successfully complete the voluntary review process which included completion of a comprehensive application and on-site review by national experts in emergency medical services. With this achievement, Centre LifeLink remains one of only six ambulance services to be accredited in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and one of only 200 nationwide. Centre LifeLink is one of the first six agencies nationwide to be accredited under new Version 4.0 ANSI approved standards.
The commission is a non-profit organization which was established to enourage and promote quality patient care in America’s medical transportation system. The primary focus of the Commission’s standards is high-quality patient care. This is accomplished by establishing national standards which not only address the delivery of patient care, but also the ambulance service’s total operation and its relationships with other agencies, the general public, and the medical community. The Commission’s standards often exceed state or local licensing requirements.
Centre LifeLink’s Board President, Meg Clouser said accreditation “represents our firm commitment to our patients and community. We continuously strive to do our best and we viewed accreditation as another step toward excellence.”
Additionally, Scott Rawson, Executive Director for Centre LifeLink said, “It’s hard to imagine that 27 years have passed since our initial CAAS accreditation. Centre LifeLink has reached so many achievements and we continue to grow and improve each year and CAAS is a big part of our success.”
