BELLEFONTE — Chew Chew Bun’s second location in Bellefonte closed its doors on Dec. 22, 2024, after just four months of service.
“As we all know, every journey has its end. After much consideration and with a heavy heart, we’ve come to the difficult decision to close our Bellefonte location,” a Facebook post from the bakery’s page shared. “Since opening, this community has embraced us with warmth and enthusiasm. Whether you stopped by for your favorite bun, a cup of coffee or to enjoy the cozy space, you’ve made this experience truly special.”
The bakery, located at 141 W. High St. in Bellefonte, was an extension of the State College location, 115 E. Beaver Ave. The State College location will still remain open from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekdays and 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays.
The company’s website noted that there are still several years left on the lease of the Bellefonte location noting that while they “don’t want to over-promise,” there is potential for the shop to return one day to Bellefonte. The website noted that they plan to repurpose the space and will not be selling the equipment used in the Bellefonte location.
For those who purchased or were gifted a physical or digital gift card at the Bellefonte location, limited time refunds can be requested by Friday, Jan. 31, at chewchewbun.com/contact.
“This decision was not made lightly. While we’ve enjoyed serving Bellefonte, it’s become clear that closing this chapter will allow us to focus on the sustainability and growth of Chew Chew Bun as a whole,” the Facebook post shared. “For now, this is goodbye. However, as with any journey, the future is full of possibilities. While we do not have plans to reopen now, we will cherish the enjoyable memories and connections we’ve made here.”
