STATE COLLEGE — The Central PA Civil War roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, July 11, at the Pennsylvania Military Museum auditorium, 51 Boal Road, in Boalsburg.

Scott Mingus will speak on “Cavalry Commander J.E.B. Stuart’s Whereabouts Before and During the Battle of Gettysburg.”

Many people erroneously believe that J.E.B. Stuart was on a glory ride around the Army of the Potomac while the Battle of Gettysburg raged on July 1 and 2.  Author Scott Mingus will make extensive use of post-war civilian border claims and old maps discussing Stuart’s route north, the obstacles that caused him to miss his planned connection with Lee’s army near the Susquehanna River and the exhausting ride up and down the hills of York County on June 30 to July 2, 1863.

Mingus is a multiple award-winning author, having written over 30 Civil War and Underground Railroad books and numerous articles for Gettysburg Magazine and other historical journals.  Mingus has appeared on C-SPAN, C-SPAN3, PBS, PCN and several other TV networks.  The Ohio native graduated from Miami University, Ohio.

All members and anyone interested in joining the Central PA Civil War Round Table are encouraged to attend.
