Volunteer firefighters from Philipsburg Vol. Fire Co. took their engine and rescue trucks to Cold Stream Dam in Philipsburg on Thursday, July 2 to draft water out of the dam and then used their hoses to spray the water on children and adults gathered there. An announcement was made on social media that the water works were happening and folks hurried to the area to get cooled off as temperatures soared past 100 degrees. Firefighters were at the dam for about two hours. A similar event is being planned for later in the month.
