Bellefonte Holiday Decorating Meeting

Historic Bellefonte, Inc. will meet at 6:30 p.m. in council chambers at the Bellefonte Borough Building at the corner of Spring and Lamb streets. Members are currently planning Christmas decorating for downtown Bellefonte and Victorian Christmas. Anyone who would like to get involved is welcome to attend.

Film Talk: The Grand Budapest Hotel

Stop in at the Centre County Library, 200 N. Allegheny St., Bellefonte, at 1 p.m. to watch the 2014 film, The Grand Budapest Hotel (Rated R), and discuss it afterwards. No need to register.

Enchanted Evening at Schlow

Schlow  Library, 211 S. Allen St., State College welcomes Tempest Productions as they allow you to mingle with characters from Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream. The event begins at 6:30 p.m. They’ll perform a few excerpts for you as you enjoy the delights of the Faerie realm. No registration required

Good Shepherd Catholic Church Fall Festival

Good Shepherd Catholic Church. 867 Grays Woods Blvd.  in Port Matilda will host a

Fall Festival from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Dozen of raffle baskets, a variety of items and crafts for sale as well as food trucks and a kids activity area.

Soup/Bake/Craft Sale

The Women’s Ministry of Zion Community Church, 3261 Zion Rd., Bellefonte, will be hosting a Soup/Bake/Craft sale from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  in the church fellowship. All proceeds will be donated to Zane Hummel to help purchase an athletic prosthesis. Zane is a local boy who recently lost his leg in a motorcycle accident. Zane had just graduated from Bellefonte and was headed to Penn State on an athletic scholarship.

Holiday Bazaar and Book and Puzzle Sale

Faith Church United Women in Faith will host a Holiday Bazaar and Book and Puzzle Sale at 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Faith United Methodist Church, 512 HughesSt., Bellefonte. Browse unique, handcrafted treasures from a variety of local artisans. From jewelry and clothing to home decor and one-of-a-kind gifts, there’s something for everyone on your list. Ther will be food options and a book and puzzle sale! Hundreds of books and over 600 puzzles will be available.

The Rivet Winter Market

The Rivet Winer Market will be held at Discovery Space, 1224 N. Atherton St.,
State College from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Jewelry, candles, artwork, glasswork, woodwork and one-of-a-kind holiday gifts.

Gingerbread House Decorating

Greater Buffalo Run Valley United Methodist Church will host a Gingerbread House Decorating Party on Nov. 15 at 1:30 p.m. in the church social room, 112 Trinity Court, Bellefonte. To have adequate supplies available for everyone please register online at greaterbuffalorunvalleyumc.com or sign up at the church. If you have icing bags and tips you may want to bring them. Zip lock baggies work well for this too. There will be some decorating items provided. 

Contra Dance

State College Friends School is co-hosting a family-friendly Contra Dance for the community from 6 to 9 p.m.. at the school, 1900 University Dr., State College. Lessons for new dancers begin at 6 p.m. All dances are taught and easy to learn. Refreshments will be available, and the suggested donation is $15 to help cover the cost of the space, caller, and musicians. For more information, email kmaynard@scfriends.org.

State College Municipal Band Veterans Day Concert

The State College Municipal will present a concert of patriotic band music to honor all veterans who have served our country.  Master Gunnery Sergeant Phil Frank as a guest euphonium soloist. This free concert that is an annual tradition where audience members who are veterans are recognized and honored. The concert will be  at 3 p.m. at Mount Nittany Middle School, 656 Brandywine Dr., State College.

Nittany Knights in Concert

Join the Nittany Knights and the congregation of the Greater Buffalo Run Valley United Methodist Church, 112 Trinity Court, Bellefonte, from 7 to 7:45 p.m. for an evening of free music and frivolity in their new church building.

State College Photo Club to meet

The State College Photo Club will meet Monday, Nov. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Patton Township Municipal Building, 100 Patton Plaza, State College. SCPC member David Whiteman will speak about his experiences from 12 years of travel photography. He will speak about photo workshops, what gear he uses, and how he processes his image. Everyone is welcome to attend the meetings. To participate in competitions, you must be a member. Open House at St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy

St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy, 901 Boalsburg Pike, Boalsburg, will host an Open House on Tuesday, Nov. 18 from 6 – 8 p.m.. Tour the school, meet new Principal Dr. Geoff Miller and the faculty. Winter Cycling 101

Ride your bike even after the temperatures drop! Winter Riding 101 is a free class that offers tips and tricks to help you extend your cycling season for a few weeks in the fall or through the entire winter. Centre Region Planning will cover topics from gloves to gear and teach you how to stay warm, safe, and in good condition (both you and your bike) until spring returns. No registration required. The class will be held at Schlow Centre Region Library Community Room, 211 S. Allen St., State College.
