Thursday, Jan. 22

LEGO Club

Children and their families are invited to drop into the Centre Conty Library, 200 N. Allegheny St. in Bellefonte from 3 to 4 p.m. and play with LEGOs, Duplos, and other building supplies! Creations will be displayed in the LEGO display case afterwards. No need to register, just drop in.

LEGO Hour

Build with library provided LEGOs and other materials at Centre Hall Area Branch Library, 109 W. Beryl St., Centre Hall from 3 to 4 p.m. Weekly building challenges are suggested, but free building is also encouraged. Creations will be displayed in the library for one week. For kids ages 5-13. No registration is necessary, just drop in.

Mystery Book Club

At the Centre County Library, 200 N. Allegheny St., Bellefonte, John Dickson Carr’s The Three Coffins, a classic locked-room puzzle packed with clever clues and unforgettable twists will be discussed from 6 to 7 p.m. Books are available at the Bellefonte circulation desk. Everyone’s welcome — no detective license required.

Friday, Jan. 23

Bingo Night

Join Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St., State College for an evening of fun and prizes for another fun bingo night from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the community room. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. There will be eight bingo games. Cards are three for $3, or six for $5. Cash preferred.  Pre-registration is recommended, either online or via phone at 814-237-6236. Players must be 18+.

Saturday, Jan. 24

Fun in the Snow at Black Mo

Enjoy a fun-filled day of activities at Black Moshannon State Park, 4216 Beaver Rd., Philipsburg starting at 10 a.m. Try ice mini golf, ice bowling, curling, ice skating, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing with free loaner equipment. Most events will take place near the Environmental Learning Center or the warming hut by the boat rental. Some food, hot drinks and Black Moshannon merchandise will also be available. If there is no snow and no ice, the event will be rescheduled for Feb. 7.

Dueling Pianos at St. Joe’s

St. Joseph’s Catholic Academy is hosting a Dueling Pianos fundraising event on Saturday, Jan. 24 from 6 to 9 p.m. at the SJCA Student Life Center/Gymnasium. This show features pianists from the Flying Ivories, who can play and sing virtually anything from Stairway to Heaven to Poker Face to Demons to Shake It Off. Ticket price includes all music, food, and open bar. Tickets can be purchased online at www.stjoeacad.org. The event also includes a cash raffle, basket raffle, and silent auction. All the funds raised support the school’s athletic program and other student activities.

Opening Day Hike

Kick off Shaver’s Creek’s milestone year celebrating its 50th anniversary with various naturalist-led hike options for all ages on Jan. 24 at 1 p.m. Stick around after the hike for games, snacks and hot cocoa by the fire. It will be held from 1 to 4 p.m.  at Stone Valley Recreation Area, Petersburg. Registration is required.

Pa. Native Plant Seed Starters

Pennsylvania Native Plant Society will educate about the benefits of native plants and help attendees to start some native seeds! Seeds and materials for your starters will be provided. Supplies are limited. The event is at Schlow Centre Region Library Community Room, 211 S. Allen St., State College at 1:30 p.m. No registration required.

Drop-in Crafts

Create crafts with the students of PSU’s SPSEA from 2 to 4 p.m. at Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St., State College. Recommended for ages 3-8. Registration not required.

Line Dancing Lessons

Round up your friends for an evening of line dancing lessons at Bellefonte Moose, 125 North Spring St., Bellefonte from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Beginner/Improver line dancing lessons to all genres of music. $5 for non-members. For ages 18+, must show identification.

Wednesday, Jan. 28

Preschool Storytime

Fun stories, songs, calendar time, crafts and play for kids ages 3-5 at Holt Memorial Library, 17 N. Front St., Philipsburg from 10:30 to 11 a.m. No need to register.

Disney Melodies Pajama Concert

Join us at Schlow Centre Region Library, 211 S. Allen St., State College at 6:30 p.m. for a performance featuring favorite Disney songs by the Penn State Thespians Society. Wear your pajamas and enjoy the show! Recommended for ages 3-8, registration suggested at www.schlowlibrary.org/events/4425.
