Friday, May 15

Community Dinner

Wingate Faith Church, 111 Runville Rd., Bellefonte (behind Wingate Sheetz) will host its monthly meal from 4 to 6:30 p.m. This month’s meal is pulled pork, coleslaw, broccoli salad, pasta salad, baked beans, and dessert. Meals are $12 for adults, $6 for students and under age 6 are free.

The Nature of Oaks

ChicoryLane Foundation and Reserve near Spring Mills will host a public educational event Understanding and Engaging the Natural World.  Ecologist Doug Tallamy’s talk “The Nature of Oaks” opens the symposium on May 15 at 7 p.m. at Wyndham Garden State College Hotel, 310 Elks Creek Rd., Boalsburg. Family Day and Open House

Krislund Camp and Retreat Center, 189 Krislund Dr, Madisonburg, is hosting a free open day at camp from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. We will have adventure activities open, crafts, storytelling and music, wagon rides, a cookout lunch, and more. Christmas in May

St John’s in Stitches (St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 134 E. Bishop St., Bellefonte) will be holding a ” Christmas in May” sale during the Bellefonte Community Yard Sale. Christmas nativity sets, wreaths, decorative snowmen and more will be on sale May 15 and 16 from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Downtown State College Farmers Market

Whether you’re looking for seasonal veggies, local honey, or fresh-baked goods, everything at the marker is grown or produced in Centre County by the people selling it. The market is on Locust Lane from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

First Responders Weekend

First Annual First Responders Weekend in Bellefonte is a new event honoring the men and women who serve our communities every day. This two-day celebration brings together first responder departments for friendly, non emergency based competitions, family fun, and cash prizes that go directly back to participating departments. Friday’s events include Registration at 3 p.m., games at 4 p.m. Events run until 8 p.m. On Saturday, games resume at 8 a.m., events continue throughout the day. Awards presentation is at 5 p.m.

Centre Furnace Mansion Plant Celebration

Centre County Historical Society invites the public to attend its 30th Annual Plant Celebration sale at theCentre Furnace Mansion, 1001 E. College Ave., State College, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Penn State Cooperative Extension Master Gardeners will be on hand throughout the event.Herbs, annuals, perennials, trees, and shrubs will be available for sale. Coffee, tea and baked goods will be available for purchase from Standing Stone Coffee Company. A complete vendor list is available at www.centrehistory.org/plant. Proceeds from this sale help support the gardens and grounds of the Centre Furnace Mansion and Boogersburg School. Event parking is available on the lower lawn along College Avenue, as well as in the Mansion lot off of Porter Road.   

Community Picnic

Greater Buffalo Run Valley United Methodist Church invites veterans and their families to a community picnic honoring their sacrifice and service. The event begins at 1 p.m. and will be held at the church building, 102 Trinity Court, Bellefonte. The building is handicapped accessible. Food and entertainment will be provided. Contra Dance

State College Friends School, 1900 University Dr., State College, is co-hosting a family-friendly Contra Dance for the community on from 6 to 9 p.m. Lessons for new dancers begin at 6 p.m. All dances are taught and easy to learn. Bob Nicholson will call the dances to music by an open contra dance band featuring Crooked Stovepipe. Suggested donation is $15 to help cover the cost of the caller and musicians, and refreshments will be available. For more information, email statecollegecontradance@gmail.com

Inside Yard Sale

The Catholic Daughters of the Americas, Court 448, Bellefonte, will hold an Inside Yard Sale in the St. John’s Catholic School auditorium from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.  Many beautiful items, including clothing, will be for sale.  

Rubber Ducky Scavenger Hunt

Rubber ducks have take over the Bellefonte Library. Join the Rubber Ducky Scavenger Hunt from 9 a.m. until all the ducks are found. Find a duck and take it home.

North Atherton Farmers Market

The North Atherton Farmers Marekt will be held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Home Depot Parking lot off North Atherton Street in State College. NAFM also features local bakeries, specialty food vendors, producers of farm-based products and more.

Children’s Safety Fair

Patton Township Children’s Safety Fair will be held from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Colonnade (Target Parking Lot). This event is free.

Multicultural Children’s Festival

The 2026 Multicultural Children’s Festival, your child and family will include various cultures of art, music, and hands-on crafts for kids of all ages. The first 750 registered children will receive a take-home bag and multicultural book.This is a free event, but advance registration is greatly appreciated so that we can plan accordingly.

No tickets will be issued, but please check-in with last name when you arrive at the event. It will be held at the State College Area High School South Building, 650 Westerly Parkway, State College from 10:30 a.m. to 2 :30 p.m.

Planting a Garden

Dr. Elsa Sanchez, Ph.D. Dept. of Plant Science at PSU will host “Planting and Maintaining a Healthy Vegetable Garden” in the Library Community Room at 1:30 p.m. The event is open to the public and parking is free after noon on Saturday.

Community Bike Ride

Sustainable State College and the Borough of State College Bicycle Ambassadors will host a 6.7-mile slow-paced family-friendly community bike ride.  Participants will gather at the Orchard Park Pavilion by the parking lot at 9:45 a.m. and the ride will be from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Participants will ride on designated shared-use paths, bike lanes, and bike routes in the Centre Region. All ages and abilities are welcome! Registration for the bike ride is required, and can be completed up until 9:45 a.m. on Saturday, May 16.

Vienna Serenade

Bellefonte Sunday Afternoon Chamber Music will present Vienna Serenade, performing music of Old Vienna, at 2:30 p.m. at Trinity United Methodist Church, 128 W. Howard St., Bellefonte. The event is free and sponsored by the Bellefonte Cultural and Historical Association.

Rock Hill Revival

Rock Hill Revival kicks off the On-The-Lawn Summer Music Series at Zion Lutheran Church, 305 N. Church St., Boalsburg. Rock Hill Revival is a local trio known for an eclectic, guitar-focused mix of classic and contemporary rock, country, blues, and a few jazz standards. Bring a chair or blanket, find a spot on the lawn, and settle in for a relaxed afternoon of live music.

Solar for Faith Communities

Learn “How Faith Communities Are Cutting Energy Costs With Solar” from 6:30 to 8 p.m. in the Fireside Room of University Baptist & Brethren Church, 411 S. Burrowes St., State College. Hear from three congregations which have already made or are making the switch: University Mennonite Church, the Unitarian Universalist Fellowship of Centre County, and UBBC. It’s free but registration is requested at www.forms.cloud.microsoft/g/Bc6DAA0ypf. The event is sponsored by the Centre Region Council of Governments and the State College chapter of Citizens’ Climate Lobby.

State College Photo Club Meeting

State College Photo Club will meet from 7 to 9 p.m. to discuss photo-editing software and Smartphone photography. The meeting will be held at Patton Township Municipal Building, 100 Patton Plaza, State College.

Tuesday, May 19

Boalsburg Farmers Market

The Boalsburg Farmers Market is held from 2 to 6 p.m. in the parking lot of The Pennsylvania Military Museum, 51 Boal Ave., Boalsburg, for our “Summer Season.” The Boalsburg Farmers Market is a “producers only” farmers market. 

Good Times Line Dancing

A line dancing instructor will teach a few line dances that vary in experience levels including absolute beginner to intermediate at Pleasant Gap Legion, 435 S. Main St, Pleasant Gap from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Guests must be 21+ to attend with ID. Younger participants are welcome when accompanied by an adult (21+).

Mountain Bike Try-It Event

A free, beginner-friendly “Mountain Bike Try-It” event will be held from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Circleville Park’s pavilion 1, 3225 Circleville Rd., Port Matilda.This event is open to students entering grades 6–12 in the fall, as well as adults interested in learning more about local mountain bike teams. No prior mountain biking experience is needed.
