Christian Science Speaker Event
A one-hour talk on Christian Science, titled, “The Science of God and its Power to Transform Us” given by Nikki Hagen of Dublin, Ireland will be held at 7:30 p.m. at First Church of Christ, Scientist, 617 E. Hamilton Ave., State College. Child care is provided on site and free Bibles and denominational textbooks are available. Members of all faith traditions or none at all are warmly welcomed. The talk will also be live-streamed via the church website for those unable to attend in person.

Warriors Mark USA/PA 250th Celebration
There will be a Cruise-in at the Warriors Mark Methodist Church, 1840 Centre Line Rd., Warriors Mark, from 5 to 8 p.m. as part of its USA/PA 250th Celebration.
Indoor Yard Sales
The Catholic Daughters of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church will host inside super large yard sales today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, June 6 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Activity Center behind the church, 820 Westerly Parkway, State College. There will be 40+ tables of jewelry, housewares, toys, puzzles, games, paper weights, nesting babies, Fenton, kitchen items, etc.The kitchen will be open. Proceeds are given to various charities. The event will be held rain or shine.
Market Jam
In coordination with the Downtown Farmers Market, the DID will be sponsoring live, local music at the Farmers Marekt on Locust Lane in conjunction with First Friday programming for the months of May through September. Enjoy live music from 12 to 2 p.m. as you peruse the locally produced items! Little Flame will be performing on June 5.
Cobble Creek Manor Garage Sale
This is a two-day community wide garage sale at Cobble Creek Manor. It will be held Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. and end each day at 2 p.m. The community is located at 3296 Shellers Bend in State College.
First Friday
Experience the cool vibe of downtown State College during monthly First Friday events at MLK PLaza that features art, people-watching, mingling with friends, shopping, and dining at the diverse and delectable State College restaurants. Free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages with validations from participating merchants.

Warriors Mark USA/PA 250th Celebration
Warriors Mark USA/PA 250th Celebration will include a craft and vendor show, Lowrie Mansion tours, military displays, Touch-A -Truck, Hot Wheels race for children, free ice cream, homemade bean soup, Scouting, 4H events and lots more. Events will be held at the Warriors Mark Grange, Methodist Church, Historical Society and Town & Country Animal Hospital.
Strawberry Festival
The 44th Annual Strawberry Festival, sponsored by the Lemont Village Association, will be held from 3 to 7 p.m. at Lemont Village Green, 133 Mt. Nittany Road, Lemont. Cost is $10 for age 13 to adult, and $5 for children 5 to 12. The event features Belleville Strawberries, homemade cakes, Meyer Dairy ice cream, lemonade, Lemont mugs and vintage Lemont shirts for sale, music by The Hot Mama’s, Sylvia Feldman & Rene Oakman from 3 to 5 and 5 to 7 p.m., “Speeder” rides by the Bellefonte Historic Railroad all afternoon for $5 per person, tours of the 1884 Grain Elevator and Coal Sheds, and art activities for children by the Art Alliance of Central PA and Centre Point Church. Bring chairs or blankets. Volunteers are welcome to sign up at the Lemont Post Office.

Summer Concert
The summer concert series, sponsored by the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association, will be held at 7 p.m. in Talleyrand Park, Bellefonte. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to Trinity Methodist Church, corner of West Howard Street and North Spring Street. This week’s concert is Coal Alley, an 11-piece horn powered band, featuring Motown, Funk, R&B, Pop and Rock.
Family Fishing Picnic
Spring Creek Chapter Trout Unlimited invites community members of all ages to the 10th Annual Family Fishing Picnic from 1 to 5 p.m. at Tussey Mountain Pond. This free, family-friendly event offers a fun-filled afternoon of fishing, outdoor activities, and environmental education. ClearWater Conservancy is proud to partner and support this event.

Nittany Valley Writers’ Network
Nittany Valley Writers’ Network will host an open reading night for all levels of writers on Tuesday, June 9 at 6 p.m. in Schlow Library’s Community Room, 211 S. Allen Street, State College. Doors open at 6 p.m., and the readings will begin at 6:30 p.m.. Attendees are welcome to bring a short writing sample to share or come to listen. The event is free and open to the public. Digital Genealogy Tools
Join Mid-State Literacy Council at 10:30 a.m. at the Active Adult Center in the Nittany Mall, 2901 E. College Ave., Suite 990 in State College for a free technology lecture called “Digital Genealogy Tools.” In this lecture, we’ll discuss some of the most popular websites and platforms and explore their features. We’ll also talk about how to access free resources, including those available from many public libraries, and explore websites offering tips and guides to creating your own digital family tree.
