Program at Foxdale Village

“When Facts Meet Fiction: Communication Strategies for Countering Climate Misinformation and Disinformation” will be presented at 7 p.m. in the auditorium at Foxdale Village. Dr. Janet Swim, Professor of Psychology and Associate Director of the Penn State Climate Consortium, will explore why some common approaches to correcting climate misinformation are often ineffective.Swim will share practical, research-based strategies for identifying misleading rhetorical techniques, responding to misinformation and disinformation and communicating climate science more effectively. This program is free and open to the public.

Centre Hall Mystery Book Club

Centre Hall Mystery Book Club will discuss the first Miss Marple Mystery, The Murder at the Vicarage by Agatha Christie! Join the discussion at the Centre Hall Area Branch Library on at 6 p.m. No registration required. Call 814-364-2580 with any questions.

Good Times Line Dancing

Join us for Country Night at Happy Valley Live, 1031 E. College Ave., State College for line dancing, drink specials, and ride the mechanical bull. The event is free and welcome to all ages and dance levels from 6 to 9 p.m. All ages welcome. All experience levels welcome. Instructors teach a few line dances from beginner to intermediate.

Pleasant Gap Flea Market

SCA Community Market

State College Assembly of God Community Market, 2201 University Drive, features fresh, local Amish-grown produce and homemade goods. Open 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Enjoy seasonal fruits and vegetables harvested at their peak and brought from the farm to you. Browse a selection of baked goods, jams, jellies, and preserves, and take home the fresh flavors of the season.

Tussey Mountain Wingfest

Tussey Mountain Wing fest FINALS will be held from 5 to 9 p.m. at 341 Bear Meadows Rd., Boalsburg. Each paid guest through the gate receives one vote ticket which can be used to select your favorite wing vendor of the night. It is also a concert, with this week’s entertainment being Felix & Hurricanes ad Velveeta. Voting ends at 9:30 p.m. with a winner announced by 9:45 p.m. All seven winning restaurants will compete at tonight’s finals to determine the Tussey Mountain Wing King.

Movies Under the Stars

The Borough of State College’s Movies Under the Stars series is back this summer! Grab your blankets or chairs, bring your friends and family, and enjoy unforgettable nights under the open sky. “Zootopia 2” will be shown at dusk in Sidney Friedman Park. Admission is free.

Vacation Bible School

Park Forest Village United Methodist Church will be hosting Vacation Bible School: Outback Rock VBS! Where kids venture into solid faith! VBS will be held tonight from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m. To register go to www.pfvumc.org/vbs-registration.

Indoor Yard Sale

Our Lady of Victory Catholics Daughters will host super large indoor yard sales today from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 15 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at 820 Westerly Parkway, State College. Sale will be in the activity center behind the church. There will be 40 tables of toys, antiques, collectibles, jewelry, jewelry houseware, books, Fenton, etc. Kitchen will be open.

Downtown State College Farmers Market

The Downtown State College Farmers Market is officially in full swing for the 2026 season. Seasonal veggies, local honey, or fresh-baked goods — everything at the market is grown or produced in Centre County by the people selling it. It is held on Locust Lane in State College from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.

The Cave-In at Woodward

Live music from 6 to 8 p.m. from Jimmy Mowery at Woodward Cave, 147 Woodward Wave Dr., Woodward. Featured food truck this week is Mama Martina’s serving authentic Mexican food.

Lemont Village Green Summer Concert 

Lemont Village Green Summer Concert will be held at 133 Mt. Nittany Road, Lemont. This week’s concert features Mary Madigan, Ian Marshall and Joe Pillot.Concert is held from 7:30 to 9 p.m. Donations collected benefit the next project for granary restoration. The most recent work is finished, with the back exit bridge funding aided by a grant from the Happy Valley Adventure Bureau and Centre Gives donations. If there is light rain, the concert is on, but in cases of thunder and lightning, the concert will be moved to the Granary. Ice cream cones available from Scout Troop 367 starting at 7 p.m. Picnics welcome, bring lawn chairs or blankets.

Saturday, Aug. 15

Contra Dance

State College Friends School is co-hosting a family-friendly Contra Dance for the community from 6 to 9 p.m. at the school, 1900 University Dr., State College. Lessons for new dancers begin at 6 p.m.. All dances are taught and easy to learn. Greg Frock will call the dances to music by Contra Rebels. Suggested donation is $15 to help cover the cost of the caller and musicians, and refreshments will be available. For more information, email statecollegecontradance@gmail.com

Woodward Cave Day

Woodward Cave Day will be held for the 100th anniversary birthday bash from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Woodward Cave, 147 Woodward Dave Drive, Woodward. It’s a day of free live music including CPMA-nominated New Artist of the Year, Stars in Sapphire. Lawn games, free kid-crafts, cave tours, and more! Food trucks by Rusty Rail as well as hand-crafted kettle chips and fresh squeezed lemonade.

Summer Beach Party

Summer Beach Party from 6 to 8:30 p.m. on the beach at Black Moshannon State Park, 4216 Beaver Rd., Philipsburg to dance to music by DJ TayTerr, roasting hot dogs and marshmallows while supplies last and various contests. Bring a lawn chair or blanket. Free for all ages. This event is weather permitting.

North Atherton Farmers Market

North Atherton Farmers Market is held from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Home Depot parking lot, 2615 Green Tech Drive., State College. It is a producers-only market which requires that vendors sell only what they produce, grow or make.

Woodward Cave Farmers Market

A weekly farmers market showcasing the very best in local growers, artisans, and bakers.

Sunday, Aug. 16

Music on the Lawn

Music on the Lawn concert series featuring Free Range will be held from 4 to 6 p.m. at Zion Lutheran Church, 105 Old Boalsburg Rd., Boalsburg. Bring a chair or blanket. Event will be held rain or shine.

Summer Concert

The summer concert series, sponsored by the Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association, will be held at 7 p.m. in Talleyrand Park, Bellefonte. In case of rain, the concert will be moved to Trinity Methodist Church, corner of West Howard Street and North Spring Street. This week’s concert is Jonny Bull.

South Hills Music Picnic Series

South Hills School of Business & Technology will host Jazz on 16 Strings starting at 6 p.m. Free admission, free parking. Music starts at 6 p.m. but come early around 5 p.m. to set up your picnic and catch up with friends!

The Boalsburg Farmers Market is held from 2 to 6 p.m. outdoors in the parking lot of The Pennsylvania Military Museum, 51 Boal Ave., Boalsburg. It is a “producers only” farmers market.

Wednesday, Aug. 19

Live After 5

Enjoy Live After 5 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the MLK Plaza, Downtown State College. This week’s entertainment is The Band Junkies.

Centre Pieces Quilt Guild Day

Meeting is at Pine Hall Lutheran Church, 1760 West College, Ave., State College at 1 p.m.  This is a hands-on workshop where stitches can be practiced.  Please bring the following supplies: small scissors, pencil and optional is a 4-7″ embroidery hoop.  Fabric, needle and thread will be provided.   Learn more about the Guild at centrepiecesguild.org.
