The Art of Performance — Friday, Jan. 19, Saturday, Jan. 20, and Sunday, Jan. 21
The new monthly series, The Art of Performance, is sponsored by Tempest Productions and is held every third weekend in downtown State College. On Friday, Happy Valley Improv will be at the Blue Brick Theater at 7 p.m. On Saturday, a production of “Live the Stream: The Story of Joe Humphreys” will be at the State Theatre at 2 p.m., and “Under Milkwood” by Dylan Thomas will be at Tempest Studios at 7 p.m. On Sunday, Kikora Franklin will teach Mojah, a master class presented by VanDance Inc. at Tempest Studios at 1 p.m.

A Choral Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — Saturday, Jan. 20
A Choral Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. will be from 4 to 5 p.m. at Eisenhower Auditorium in University Park. This event will bring together vocal ensembles from Penn State and State College Area High School to honor the late champion of civil and human rights. Modeled after the program first presented in 1990 in Washington D.C., the performances will focus on choral and vocal music from African and African American music.

Saint Joseph’s Junior WolfPack Basketball Clinic — Saturday, Jan. 20

Third Sunday Ukulele Jam — Saturday, Jan. 20
Ukulele players of all ages and skill levels are invited to a two-hour jam from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Nittany Mall Community Room in State College. Hosted by Allegheny Ukulele, the first half hour will be geared towards new and beginner players. There will also be ukuleles available to use if you don’t own one.

35th Annual John Z. Ziegler Historic Preservation Awards of the Centre County Historical Society — Sunday, Jan. 21
The Historic Preservation Awards will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, at the Pennsylvania Match Factory in Bellefonte, home of the American Philatelic Society. The Centre County Historical Society has recognized individuals and organizations every year since 1988. National Skating Month Event at Pegula Ice Arena — Sunday, Jan. 21
It’s National Skating Month and Pegula Ice Arena is inviting the community for a skating celebration. The event is from 2:30 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, Jan. 21, at Pegula Ice Arena in University Park. There will be free skating lessons and an exhibition. Registration will begin at 2:30 p.m., followed by a skating exhibition, an on-ice group skating lesson and on-ice free time. A helmet is required for all participants.

The Centre County Library in Bellefonte will have trained therapy dogs for children to read to from 3:15 to 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23. The sessions are offered to help struggling and reluctant readers gain confidence. Those interested in attending can call 814-355-1516 to sign up for a 10-minute reading session.

Family History 101 — Tuesday, Jan. 23
Guests are invited to the Centre Hall Area Branch Library of the Centre County Library and Historical Museum at 10 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 23. The event will help participants get started in genealogy. The PA Room and Historical Museum staff will share genealogy tips and tricks as well as what the library has to offer on family research.

Full-Moon Hikes at Rhoneymeade — Thursday, Jan. 25
Centred Outdoors is inviting participants to a full-moon hike at Rhoneymeade I Centre Hall from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 25. The program will include a guided walk followed by a campfire as well as opportunities to learn more about nocturnal adaptions, open skies and mysteries of the night. Participants are asked to bring a thermos or bottle for hot drinks; warm clothes; and a headlamp or flashlight. Registration for the event opens one week prior.
