MILESBURG — Duckstock, an annual event initially created to honor the memory of Lester “Ducky” Walk’s son and which collects food for the Milesburg Food Bank, returned for another year on Friday, July 26.

The annual memorial event began in Ducky’s backyard but has since expanded into a weekend-long event with over 300 attendees.

Funds raised from this year’s event were donated to Ricky Lapean, a local battling cancer, and the Wounded Warrior Project, a nonprofit organization that provides support and services to wounded veterans and service members, helping them recover and transition back to civilian life.

“Come join us for another fabulous weekend of helping others. Pull in your camper or pitch a tent. Sleep in your car if ya want. Just come!” the Facebook events page shared.

“We are proud to be able to help a man (Lapean) who has given so much to help us in years past and you all should be proud to, because we couldn’t do it without your help by attending and spending.”

On Friday, July 26, Lapean broadcasted live on QWIK Rock 105.9. The day also featured a 50/50 raffle, games and a handgun raffle. Live music was performed by Quarterstick, a classic rock cover band, on Friday night. On Saturday, July 27, a fireworks display was put on, in addition to performances by Stray Bologny Sammich and Jonny Bull.
