STATE COLLEGE — Football weekends in Happy Valley are about to get a little funnier. Nationally known comedian Eddie Griffin will bring his “Eddie Griffin and Friends” tour to the Bryce Jordan Center at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 12.

The show lands on the eve of Penn State football’s home matchup against Villanova, offering fans a chance to start the weekend with comedy before the action kicks off at Beaver Stadium. Tickets are on sale now through Ticketmaster.

Griffin got his start in stand-up after accepting a dare to perform at a local comedy club. A three-minute set turned into 45 minutes, launching a career that has spanned more than three decades.

He later moved to Los Angeles and built a name both on stage and in Hollywood. Griffin starred in the 2002 comedy “Undercover Brother” and appeared in “Deuce Bigalow: Male Gigolo” and its sequel. In 2018, he played “The Pastor” in the Academy Award–winning film “A Star is Born”, appearing alongside Dave Chappelle, Lady Gaga and Bradley Cooper.

Griffin has also released several acclaimed comedy specials, including “DysFunktional Family”, “You Can Tell ’Em I Said It” and “Undeniable”. Known for his high-energy delivery and sharp-edged humor, he has remained a fixture in stand-up comedy for more than 30 years.

“Eddie Griffin and Friends” will mark his return to State College with an evening of laughs at one of the region’s largest venues.
