First Friday shows off downtown State College

STATE COLLEGE’S holiday spirit will be on display during the First Friday event on Dec. 3.

STATE COLLEGE — Experience the holiday vibe of downtown State College during December’s First Friday event on Dec. 3.

The casual atmosphere features art, people-watching, mingling with friends, shopping and dining at the diverse and delectable State College restaurants. First Friday goers will experience after-hours access to galleries and shops, retail and restaurant specials, and more. And there’s free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages with validations from participating merchants.

Stop by the MLK Plaza to visit with Santa between 5 and 7 p.m., enjoy free hot chocolate and popcorn, courtesy of Lion’s Club, and keep an eye out for live Ballerinas in the windows of businesses throughout downtown. Enjoy a free movie at The State Theatre— The Grinch — at 7 p.m., sponsored by the Downtown Improvement District. Walk-ins welcome or reserve your free seats at https://bit.ly/3HVCHSb.

While downtown for First Friday, check out these Light Up Downtown displays:
* “Be the Light” at MLK Plaza — sponsored by KCF Technologies;
* “Gingerbread WalkWay” at Calder Way;
* “Garland Gateway” at Allen Street Gates;
* “Enchanted Forest” at Locust Lane; and n “Candy Cane Lane” in Centennial Walkway Free Trolley Rides will loop through Light Up from 5-8 pm on the following days:
* Friday, Dec. 3 – First Friday; n Saturday, Dec. 4; n Friday, Dec. 10; and
* Saturday, Dec. 11. Trolley stops at Fraser St, Locust Ln, and Calder Way. Jump on at any stop, the trolley will be taking continuous loops. Masks are required inside the trolley.
