Concerts on the Village Green — Friday, Aug. 2
Concerts on the Village Green, a weekly musical performance at the Lemont Village Green in Lemont, will take place at 7 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2. The event will feature the band Group Therapy. Playing a variety of pop, country and indie cover songs from the past 50 years, the band consists of Jim Herbert on guitar and vocals, vocalist Darcy Butler, Charlie Rury on fiddle and vocals and John Clements on percussion. The music will begin at 7:30 p.m. Guests are asked to bring chairs and blankets for sitting.

The Central Pennsylvania Observers invites guests to view the skies through telescopes at 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, at Tom Tudek Park in State College. Participants will have the opportunity to see planets, stars and more. All are welcome to the free event.

Mike Pilato is installing a new mural on the exterior of Bellefonte’s Waffle Shop starting at 9 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, during the Bellefonte Arts and Crafts Fair. Guests are invited to come to celebrate the intersection of art, history, community and local business during this fair highlight.

41st Annual Bellefonte Arts and Crafts Fair — Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3
The 41st Annual Bellefonte Arts and Crafts Fair will be from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, and from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, in downtown Bellefonte. There will be juried artists, crafts, food, kids’ activities and much more. Admission to the fair is free and there is offsite parking with a free shuttle.

Indoor Yard Sale — Friday, Aug. 2, and Saturday, Aug. 3
The Catholic Daughters of Our Lady of Victory Catholic Church is sponsoring a large indoor yard sale from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 2, and from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at the church in State College. The sale will take place in the activity center behind the church. There will be toys, jewelry, puzzles, games and more. The kitchen will be open, and money will be donated to local charities.

The annual Ice Cream Fest sponsored by the State College/Downtown Rotary Club will return from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, along North Allen Street in State College. Bring the family to try ice cream from different vendors with fun activities for kids.

ShelterFest — Saturday, Aug. 3
ShelterFest will be from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 3, at Calvary Harvest Fields in Boalsburg. The day of music and fun supports Out of the Cold. Admission to the concert is by donation, and food and drinks will be available to purchase. There will be performances from Eric Ian Farmer, the Rocket Blasters, Biscuit Jam, Anchor and Arrow, the Extra Miles, Granma Ben, Richard Sleigh and Jerry Zolten and Friends and more.

South Hills Free Music Picnic Series — Sunday, Aug. 4
The next event of the South Hills School of Business and Technology’s Music Picnic Series will take place from 6 to 7:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, at the school’s State College campus. Natascha and the Spy Boys, a band that offers a mix of jazz, blues and swing, evoking the atmosphere of a 1920s speakeasy, will perform on the north lawn of the school, with grounds opening at 4 p.m. The event and parking are free and open to the public. Guests are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket for sitting.

Summer Sounds from the Gazebo — Sunday, Aug. 4
Summer Sounds from the Gazebo will feature Jazz Vonda — Jazz Quartet at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 4, in Bellefonte’s Talleyrand Park. Guests are encouraged to bring a lawn chair or blanket for sitting. Summer Sounds from the Gazebo began in 1981, bringing musical styles such as folk, pop, rock, jazz and more to Bellefonte.

Central PA Civil War Round Table — Tuesday, Aug. 6
The Central PA Civil War Round Table will meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 6, at the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg. Jared Frederick will be the featured speaker, presenting “Keystone of War: Altoona, the Underground Railroad and the Civil War.” Frederick served as a seasonal interpretive park ranger at Gettysburg National Military Park and Harper’s Ferry National Historical Park. Frederick has written many books on the Civil War and WWII and is currently an instructor of history at Penn State Altoona. All Central PA Civil War Round Table members as well as anyone interested in joining are invited to attend.

Camp Firelight VBS — Friday, Aug. 9, through Sunday, Aug. 11
Camp Firelight Vacation Bible School for toddlers and elementary school students begins at 6 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 9, with activities and campfire time at Park Forest Village United Methodist Church in State College. The camp will resume from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 10, and from 9:20 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 11, for more games, studies and activities.
