Earth Day Celebration — Saturday, April 19
The Arboretum at Penn State is hosting an Earth Day celebration starting at 10 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the Arboretum in State College.
The event will include activities for all ages. For the younger guests, there will be nature free play and programming the Arboretum’s new Artemis Moon Tree, which grew from a seed that went to the moon.
Older guests and adults can enjoy nature journaling and environmental trivia.
Resource is Resistance Resource Fair — Saturday, April 19
The Resource is Resistance Resource Fair will be from 1 to 4 p.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the Print Factory in Bellefonte. Guests are invited to come out and learn more or engage with local community serving organizations throughout Centre County.
The fair will focus on immigration resources, reproductive rights and resources, LGBTQ+ resources, rural health resources, mental health resources, housing security, food security, crisis intervention, recovery and addiction and more.
The event looks to bring together local nonprofits, service providers and organizations who serve the community, offer support and information sharing.
There will be activities planned for kids and rides are available for folks who register prior to the event.
Earth Day Projects at Black Moshannon State Park — Saturday, April 19
Participants are invited to help beautify Black Moshannon State Park for Earth Day starting at 9 a.m. on Saturday, April 19, at the state park.
Projects will include painting, trail maintenance, litter pickup and debris removal. After the projects, lunch will be provided at one of the pavilions.
There will also be free camping that weekend for those who preregister by calling the park office at 814-342-5960 or by emailing blackmoshannonee@pa.gov.
Print Factory Writing Group — Sunday, April 20
The Print Factory Writing Group will meet at 4 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, at the Print Factory in Bellefonte.
The new writing group is aimed at connecting and supporting local writers. Everyone is welcome to bring a project they’re working on or a book they’d like to read.
Bird Walks with the State College Bird Club — Tuesday, April 22
The State College Bird Club and the Millbrook Marsh Nature Center are hosting a bird walk at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, April 22, at the nature center in State College.
Guests are invited to start off their day by observing birds that are migrating to and through the Centre Region. The program is open to all ages and is great for beginners.
A donation of $5 is suggested to support Millbrook Marsh Nature Center, and guests are asked to dress for the weather and bring binoculars.
Knit Wits — Monday, April 21
Community members are invited to bring their knitting or crocheting projects from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, April 21, at the Holt Memorial Library in Philipsburg.
All skill levels are welcome to join. There is no set project, so guests are asked to bring what they are currently working on.
Spring Social — Wednesday, April 23
The State College Borough and the One Hand Foundation are hosting a Spring Social from 4 to 6 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at the State College Municipal Building, room 201.
The event aims to uplift the local elderly community with an inclusive and welcoming space, inviting folks to connect and engage with each other.
At the event, there will be bingo, live music by the Nittany Knights and a cultural performance.
Nittany Baptist Church Children’s Program — Wednesday, April 23
Nittany Baptist Church will have its AWANA program for kids grades kindergarten through sixth at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 23, at the church in State College.
The program is designed to build a spiritual foundation in children to help them navigate life using the nationally recognized AWANA program. The program will be in building two. For more information, call 814-360-7157.
State College Food Bank Open House — Thursday, April 24
The State College Food Bank is celebrating its one year anniversary in its new location with an open house at 11 a.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the food bank.
Guests are invited to tour the space, learn more about the food bank’s mission and programs and see the food bank’s process in action.
Bike Safety 101 — Thursday, April 24
Penn State Transportation Services is hosting a free workshop, Bike Safety 101, from 6:15 to 7:15 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the Bike Den on University Park’s campus.
Instructors will teach guests about the rules of the road and bike safety skills before the group heads outside for a beginner-friendly practice course. Participants are asked to bring their bike and helmet and will receive a free pair of Penn State bike lights.
Registration is required for the workshop by Wednesday, April 23, at transportation.psu.edu/event/bike-safety-101-workshop.
Grief Gathering at Saint Mark — Thursday, April 24
Saint Mark Lutheran Church will host its next Grief gathering at 6 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the church in Howard.
The event is an opportunity for anyone one going through grief or experiencing sadness of any kind to connect and share with others.

Art After Hours: Poetry and Paint — Thursday, April 24
Guests are invited to the Palmer Museum of Art for the event Art After Hours: Poetry and Paint, at 5 p.m. on Thursday, April 24, at the museum in State College.
At the event, participants can be creative, connect with others and learn about self-care art techniques. Get inspired during an ekphrastic poetry tour through the galleries, build community with other creatives and participate in some therapeutic art practices.
