Downtown State College Farmers Market — Friday, May 2
The Downtown State College Farmers Market will be from 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at the intersection of East College Avenue and Locust Lane in State College.
The market features a variety of local products, including produce, plants, flowers, meats, wellness products and more.
Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association Silent Auction — Friday, May 2
The Bellefonte Historical and Cultural Association will be hosting a silent auction from 7 to 9 p.m. on Friday, May 2, at the Saint John’s Episcopal Mary Beaver Parish Hall in Bellefonte.
First Friday — Friday, May 2
Members of the community are invited to experience the cool vibes of downtown State College with its monthly First Friday event at 5 p.m. on Friday, May 2, in the MLK Plaza downtown State College.
Organized by the Downtown Improvement District, participants can experience a casual atmosphere with art, people-watching, mingling, shopping and dining. First Friday attendees get after-hours access to downtown State College’s businesses with free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages. Validation can be found at participating businesses.
Light of the World Clothing Bank — Friday, May 2 and Saturday, May 3
The Light of the World Clothing Bank will be open from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Friday, May 2 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 3, at Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte.
Free clothes will be available for everyone from babies to adults.
Community Day at Mount Nittany Health Toftrees — Saturday, May 3
Mount Nittany Health Toftrees is hosting a Community Day from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, May 3, at the clinic’s location in State College.
The event is free and open to the public, with many activities ranging from kids to adults. Children can attend the Teddy Bear Clinic, where they’ll receive a stuffed animal to take to a checkup with the pediatrics team.
The volunteer therapy dog will be on-site and families can also participate in touch-a-truck and explore service vehicles. There will also be a Garden Party where guests will plant a seedling for the Mount Nittany Health Garden at Toftrees and take another seedling home to grow.
Pleasant Gap Fire Company Open House — Saturday, May 3
Pleasant Gap Fire Company is hosting an open house from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at the fire company in Pleasant Gap.
There will be educational programming for kids and families, crafts, games, bucket truck rides, car seat safety and car seat checks, a fire hose splash zone and more in addition to food from the Cakeshop by Tati and Scott’s Roasting.
Central PA Native Plant Festival — Saturday, May 3
The annual Central PA Native Plant Festival will be from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, at Millbrook Maash Nature Center in State College.
Acquire some new additions to your garden this spring with more than 275 native species to choose from.
In addition to the plants for sale, there will also be education resource tables where you can get all your native plant and gardening questions answered.
Admission is free, and there will be food and live music during the festival as well.
Centre Animal Hospital Open House — Saturday, May 3
The public is invited to an open house to visit the newly renovated Centre Animal Hospital from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, May 3, in State College.
There will be a guided tour, demonstrations, raffles, giveaways, refreshments and a slideshow presentation of the two year renovation process.
Gospel Night — Sunday, May 4
Pine Hall Lutheran Church is hosting a Gospel Night at 7 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at the church in State College.
The program will feature the Penns Valley Men’s Chorus, the Pine Hall Lutheran Church Choir and the Tuesday night Bluegrass Jammers.
Refreshments will follow the program. Admission is free, but donations are accepted ad can be made for Interfaith Human Services.
Print Factory Writing Group — Sunday, May 4
The Print Factory Writing Group will meet at 4 p.m. on Sunday, May 4, at the Print Factory in Bellefonte.
The new writing group is aimed at connecting and supporting local writers. Everyone is welcome to bring a project they’re working on or a book they’d like to read.
Bird Walks with the State College Bird Club — Tuesday, May 6
The State College Bird Club and the Millbrook Marsh Nature Center are hosting a bird walk at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, May 6, at the nature center in State College.
Guests are invited to start off their day by observing birds that are migrating to and through the Centre Region. The program is open to all ages and is great for beginners.
A donation of $5 is suggested to support Millbrook Marsh Nature Center, and guests are asked to dress for the weather and bring binoculars.
Central PA Civil War Roundtable Meeting — Tuesday, May 6
The Central PA Civil War Roundtable will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday May 6, in the Activities Room of the South Hills School of Business and Technology in State College.
The meeting will feature the speaker, Peter Knight, who will present “The Lincoln Conspiracy: Evolution and Aftermath. Monday, April 14, marked the 160th anniversary of the assassination of former President Abraham Lincoln.

Benefit Concert at Faith UCC — Wednesday, May 7
Faith United Church of Christ is hosting a benefit concert at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, at the church in State College.
Violinist Tim McClure will perform a solo recital in collaboration with the church.
The event is free, but donations will go directly to the Faith UCC Pastor’s Discretionary Fund, which benefits State College community members in need of urgent financial assistance.
Nittany Baptist Church Children’s Program — Wednesday, May 7
Nittany Baptist Church will have its AWANA program for kids grades kindergarten through sixth at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 7, at the church in State College.
The program is designed to build a spiritual foundation in children to help them navigate life using the nationally recognized AWANA program. The program will be in building two. For more information, call 814-360-7157.
