Central Pennsylvania Observers Sky Watch — Friday, June 7

Join the Central Pennsylvania Observers to view the skies through telescopes at 9 p.m. on Friday, June 7, at Tudek Park in State College. Attendees can see planets, stars and much more. The Sky Watch is free and open to the public.

Logan Fire Co. Chicken BBQ — Saturday, June 8

The Logan Fire Company will have its last Chicken BBQ of the year at 10 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at the fire company in Bellefonte. There will be half a BBQ chicken for $8 and $12 for a meal of chicken, baked beans, mac salad and a dinner roll until supplies run out. The fire company will also be accepting donations.

Central PA Homeschool Expo and Book Sale — Saturday, June 8

The State College Homeschool Expo will be from 8:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday, June 8, at Park Forest Baptist Church in State College. Books, curriculum, resources, speakers, vendors and more will be featured at the event.

Walk With Me State College — Saturday, June 8

Easterseals of Western and Central Pennsylvania is hosting the fourth annual Walk With Me State College on Saturday, June 8, at Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte. Registration for the 1-mile fundraising walk/wheel will begin at 9 a.m. The 2024 Walk With Me State College is an opportunity for families, friends and coworkers to gather and celebrate those with disabilities and other needs. The walk/wheel is open to all ages and abilities. Funds from the event will support Easterseals programs and services.

Tree City Commemoration Day — Saturday, June 8

Harris Township and the Harris Township Lions Club are hosting a tree celebration at 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 8, at Blue Spring Park in Boalsburg. The Harris Township Lions Club will provide tree seedlings to the first 40 guests. The event will also feature a tree planting demonstration of a river birch from Green Horizon Landscaping. The event is open to the public and guests are asked to meet at the pavilion in the park.

Summer Sounds from the Gazebo — Sunday, June 9

Summer Sounds from the Gazebo is at 7 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, in Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte. The music series, which began in 1981, has free concerts every Sunday from June through August. Coal Aly will be performing at this concert. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets for sitting.

Centre County Ballroom June Dance — Sunday, June 9

Centre County Ballroom is hosting its June Dance from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, June 9, at Lambert Hall in Bellefonte. Zupe will provide live music for the event. Gary and Bonnie will also provide rumba lessons. Admission is $10 per person and guests are asked to bring a snack to share.

‘Slime Line’ Book Talk with Jake Maynard — Tuesday, June 11

Pennsylvania author Jake Maynard will host a book talk in celebration of his debut novel, “Slime Line,” at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, at Webster’s Bookstore Cafe in State College. Maynard’s novel is described as “a fresh and trippy portrait of the diverse underclass of the commercial fishing industry.” Maynard will be joined by State College based author Dave Housley, who wrote “The Other Ones.”

Nittany Valley Writers Network Open Reading Night — Tuesday, June 11

The Nittany Valley Writers Network is hosting an open reading night at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, June 11, in Schlow Library’s Community Room in State College. The Open Reading Night is open to all levels of writers. Guests can bring a short writing sample to share or come to listen and meet with other writers. The event is free and open to the public. Protecting Your Personal Information Online Free Technology Class — Wednesday, June 12

The Mid-State Literacy Council and Senior Planet from AARP is hosting a free technology class on “Protecting Your Personal Information Online” at 11 a.m. on Sunday, June 12, at Howard United Methodist Church in Howard. State College Pride — Saturday, June 8

State College Pride is returning for another year in downtown State College with events from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, June 8. There will be events and festivities throughout the day, including caricature art, food trucks, face painting, merchandise and more.

10 a.m. — Parade

Noon — Festival begins at Sidney Friedman Park

Noon — Speeches from Grand Marshall Marinette Pichon, Mayor Ezra Nanes and Fermin    Almedia of Centre LGBT+

12:15 p.m. — Fire Eater Sible Sible

12:20 p.m. — Drag Performances

1 p.m. — Adam Swartz Puppets

1:30 p.m. — The Extra-Ordinary Capvara

1:50 p.m. — Happy Valley Improv

2:15 p.m. — Drag Performances

3 p.m. — Open Dance Time

3:50 p.m. — Closing Speeches

State College Pride will conclude with various after-parties at downtown State College establishments.

Food, fun and crafts at State College Presbyterian Church from 6 to 8 p.m.

For ages 18-25

Games, fun and mocktails at Centre LGBT+ from 6 to 9 p.m.

For ages 21+

Chumley’s ’80s Theme Party at 4 p.m.

Zenos at 4 p.m.

Allen Street Grill at 4 p.m.

State Queens Show at Cafe 210 at 6 p.m.
