Friday Concert on the Village Green — Friday, Aug. 1

Group Therapy will perform the Friday Concert on the Village Green from 7:30 to 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, at the Lemont Village Green in Lemont.

Guests are encouraged to bring a blanket or chair for sitting and are welcome to bring a picnic.

Ice cream cones will be served by Scout Troop 367, with a contribution to the troop for projects.

First Friday — Friday, Aug. 1

Members of the community are invited to experience the cool vibes of downtown State College with its monthly First Friday event at 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1, in the MLK Plaza in downtown State College.

Organized by the Downtown Improvement District, participants can experience a casual atmosphere with art, people-watching, mingling, shopping and dining. First Friday attendees get after-hours access to downtown State College’s businesses with free parking in the Pugh, Fraser and Beaver garages. Validation can be found at participating businesses.

Harvest Tasting — Friday, Aug. 1

There will be a Harvest Tasting from 10 a.m. to noon on Friday, Aug. 1, at the Arboretum at Penn State in State College.

Guests are invited to come out and explore the flavors of the growing season with a taste of fresh produce grown in the beds of the children’s garden.

Light of the World Clothing Bank — Friday, Aug. 1 and Saturday, Aug. 2

The Light of the World Clothing Bank will be open from 2:30 to 5 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 1 and from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Aug. 2, at Saint John’s United Church of Christ in Bellefonte.

Free clothes will be available for everyone from babies to adults, including brand-new shorts and tops for men and boys. Stop by during the Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair.

42nd Annual Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair — Friday, Aug. 1 and Saturday, Aug. 2

 The 42nd Annual Bellefonte Arts & Crafts Fair will take place from Friday, Aug. 1, through Saturday, Aug. 2, in downtown Bellefonte.

There will be a diverse selection of handmade and original pieces from dozens of juried artisans and crafters. From unique paintings to stunning ceramics, there will be something for everyone. There will also be food, kids’ activities and live music.

RAWTools with Hannah Martin: Sparking Peace and Blacksmithing — Sunday, Aug. 3

RAWTools will be coming to State College to teach folks about blacksmithing and transforming things that hurt into things that help people grow. The event will be at 2 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, in the parking lot behind Saint Paul’s and Abba Java Coffee House in downtown State College.

There will be arts and crafts for kids, blacksmithing demonstrations and opportunities to learn from local organizations and faith communities on efforts to reduce violence in the community. Author Hannah Martin will also be there with her new book “Sparking Peace.”

All are welcome to attend.

Print Factory Writing Group — Sunday, Aug. 3

The Print Factory Writing Group will meet at 4 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, at the Print Factory in Bellefonte.

The new writing group is aimed at connecting and supporting local writers. Everyone is welcome to bring a project they’re working on or a book they’d like to read.

Summer Sounds from the Gazebo — Sunday, Aug. 3

Summer Sounds from the Gazebo will feature the Tussey Mountain Moonshiners playing bluegrass at 7 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, at Talleyrand Park in Bellefonte.

The concert series began in 1981, bringing free mini-concerts to residents from June through August.

Guests are encouraged to bring chairs or blankets for sitting.

South Hills 2025 Summer Concert Series — Sunday, Aug. 3

The South Hills School of Business and Technology is hosting its 36th annual Summer Music Picnic Series, with Eric Ian Farmer at 5 p.m. on Sunday, Aug. 3, on the North Lawn of the school in State College.

Music begins at 6 p.m. and guests are asked to bring their picnic dinner, drinks, chairs and blankets to enjoy music on the lawn. Lemonade will be available for a dollar a glass.

Knit Wits — Monday, Aug. 4

Community members are invited to bring their knitting or crocheting projects from 5:30 to 7 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, at the Holt Memorial Library in Philipsburg.

All skill levels are welcome to join. There is no set project, so guests are asked to bring what they are currently working on.

State College Deutsch Club — Monday, Aug. 4

The State College Deutsch Club will host its free German conversation group at 5:30 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4, in the Community Room of Schlow Centre Region Library.

The club meets twice a month, with half of the meetings surrounding a themed conversation.

Central PA Civil War Round Table — Tuesday, Aug. 5

The Central PA Civil War Round Table will meet at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 5, in the Activities Room of the South Hills School of Business in State College.

Gene Schmiel, a retired U.S. Department of State Foreign Service Officer who was also an assistant professor of history at Saint Francis University, will lead a presentation on “Searching for Irvin McDowell: The Civil War’s Forgotten General.”

All CWRT members are encouraged to attend, as well as anyone interested in joining.

Live After 5 — Wednesday, Aug. 6

The first Live After 5 event will feature music from Home Planet from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., in the MLK Plaza downtown State College on Wednesday, Aug. 6.

The weekly summer concert series runs from June through August.

Nittany Baptist Church Children’s Program — Wednesday, Aug. 6

Nittany Baptist Church will have its AWANA program for kids in grades kindergarten through sixth at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 6, at the church in State College.

The program is designed to build a spiritual foundation in children to help them navigate life using the nationally recognized AWANA program. The program will be in building two. For more information, call 814-360-7157.

Senior Fair — Thursday, Aug. 7

Rep. Paul Takac’s office is hosting the annual Senior Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 4, at Centre Care in Bellefonte.

The event will provide opportunities to engage with local agencies, health care providers and local community organizations that support Centre County’s seniors. The event is designed for senior residents, families, friends and caretakers to share information and connect with local resources.

Centre Knitters Guild — Thursday, Aug. 7

The Centre County Knitters Guild meets on the first Thursday of every month from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. at the Patton Township Municipal Building.

The first half-hour will include a meet and greet. More information can be found online at centreknittersguild.com.

Heroes of the Bible Vacation Bible School — Thursday, Aug. 7 and Friday, Aug. 8

Mount Nittany United Methodist Church is hosting its vacation Bible school, Heroes of the Bible, from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 7 and on Friday, Aug. 8, at the church in State College.

All children aged four through 12 are welcome. There will be music, games, snacks, crafts and fun for everyone.
