STATE COLLEGE — The Centre County Gazette launched a Valentine Holiday Hunt contest in February that resulted in more than 130 responses!
The Gazette held a similar contest in December 2025 which was likewise successful.
The scavenger-style hunt asked readers to scour the pages of each edition published in February to find hidden Valentine-type icons in 10 advertisements throughout the publication. Readers were asked to find candy hearts, letters, roses and Cupid’s arrows, and then write the name of the advertisers and the page numbers where the icons were found.
At the end of the month, readers mailed the completed form to The Gazette. Four winners were drawn from all of the entries received.
The lucky winners were:
- Sherry Corman
- Linda Roan
- Amy Hall
- Mechel Houser
Prizes were donated by the following contest sponsors:
- Fisher’s Shoe & Saddle Shop of Madisonburg
- State Rep. Kerry Benninghoff
- Weaver’s Store, Inc. of Spring Mills
- Stoltzfus Storage Sheds of Madisonburg
Watch for a future contest coming soon!
