LEWISTOWN — Geisinger Lewistown Hospital has opened its newly renovated 4B inpatient nursing unit, marking a significant milestone in the hospital’s ongoing transformation to private patient rooms and reinforcing its commitment to delivering an exceptional patient experience.
The new 4B unit includes 16 private patient rooms designed to enhance comfort, privacy and healing while supporting the highest standards of patient care. The project is part of a broader modernization effort that will ultimately bring the hospital’s total number of private patient rooms to 79 by winter 2027.
The renovation represents a $6 million investment in the future of patient care at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
“We’re so thankful to see this phase of our medical-surgical renovations come to completion,” said Stacey Osborne, vice president and chief nursing officer at Geisinger Lewistown Hospital.
“With this project, we’ve now touched every floor in the hospital, creating spaces that better support both our patients and our care teams. We still have several other projects ahead of us, so the pace certainly isn’t slowing down.”
Geisinger Lewistown Hospital continues to earn national recognition for quality and patient care, including designation as a U.S. News & World Report Best Hospital, a CMS 5-Star facility and a Leapfrog Straight A hospital.
Private patient rooms offer several benefits to patients and their families, including:
- Greater privacy for personal comfort and confidential conversations with healthcare providers
- Improved infection prevention by reducing the risk of transmission between patients
- Quieter surroundings to support rest, healing and recovery
- Enhanced opportunities for family involvement and support during a hospital stay
- A more personalized and dignified patient experience
- Integration of modern technologies and features that improve comfort and care delivery
The opening of the 4B inpatient nursing unit reflects Geisinger Lewistown Hospital’s continued investment in creating a healing environment that supports patients and staff while meeting the evolving healthcare needs of the community.
“As we continue to modernize our facilities, every improvement is made with our patients, families and care teams in mind,” Osborne said. “This investment helps us provide exceptional care close to home for generations to come.”
