CENTRE COUNTY — The Centre County girls basketball teams’ regular season is wrapping up. Here’s a look at how they are doing so far:
BALD EAGLE AREA (14-8)

The Bald Eagle Area girls basketball team fell to 5-14 after the past three games, but the Lady Bald Eagles are holding onto the No. 8 position in the District 6 3A rankings.
The Eagles are just behind Mount Union and just ahead of West Shamokin. With one game remaining to play, against Bellwood-Antis, BEA could improve its position with a victory.
If the team chooses to enter the tournament, a first round game against either River Valley (22-0) or Penns Valley (14-8) is possible.
BELLEFONTE (1-20)

The Lady Raiders still have one game to play in their season against Mount Union at home on Wednesday, Feb. 12. Bellefonte is ranked No. 5 in the D6 5A bracket with four teams advancing to the tournament. Results of the game were not available prior to The Gazette’s print deadline.
PENNS VALLEY (14-8)

Despite a loss on Monday, Feb. 10, to Bishop Guilfoyle, the Lady Rams are ranked No. 2 in the D6 3A bracket.
Against Huntingdon on Thursday, Feb. 6, PV pulled away in the fourth quarter to take a 53-39 win over the Bearcats.
PV held a slim lead going into the last period but then went on a 20-7 run that took it 14th win of the season.
Sydnie Dalton scored 14 for PV while Lily Smith had 12 and Elle Dinges added 10.
Possible opponents for the Rams in the first round are Cambria Heights, Richland or Mount Union.
PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA (3-19)

Monday, Feb. 10, Hollidaysburg 67, P-O 28
The Lady Mounties came through with a 44-27 victory, their third of the season, over West Branch on February 7 at West Branch.
The Mounties were led by Maddy Malinich with 21 points and Emily Gustkey with 9.
P-O is ranked 11th in the D6 3A bracket with 8 teams qualifying for the playoffs.
SAINT JOSEPH’S CATHOLIC ACADEMY (20-1)

Now at 20-1 and led by All-Stars Naomi Crispin and Aubrey Yartz, the Lady WolfPack has their sights set high for the coming postseason.
After finishing the regular season with romps over Juniata Valley and Susquenita, the team will be entering the D6 1A bracket as the No. 2 seed, just behind 20-2 Bishop Guilfoyle.
Possible matchups for the team in the first round include Purchase Line (13-8), Glendale (11-9) and Juniata Valley (12-9).
Three teams will advance to the PIAA state tournament from the district.
STATE COLLEGE (17-4)

The showdown in D6 6A for this year’s championship is beginning to take shape.
State College, after finishing its regular season with a 53-44 victory over Central Dauphin, will enter the tournament as the No. 2 seed, just behind archrival Altoona (20-2).
The two Mid Penn teams have been neck-and-neck all season, and the split the season’s series with the Lions winning in December and Altoona getting even in January.
Now, both will be favored to make it to the District 6 championship which is scheduled for Friday, Feb. 21, at Mount Aloysius College with the winner advancing to the regional final.
