CENTRE COUNTY — Hunting licenses for the 2024-25 hunting season will go on sale at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 24. Licenses can be purchased at the Centre County treasurer’s office in the Willowbank Building in Bellefonte, online or through hunting license agents.

In an effort to relieve the impact of the high volume of applications via the HuntFishPA sales system, the only three Wildlife Management Units for antlerless deer that will be available for purchase, on a first come, first served basis, will be 1B, 2G and 3A. The remaining WMUs will be made available on Thursday, June 27.

According to a press release from the treasurer’s office, residents are each guaranteed one antlerless license for these areas. Licenses must be purchased before 7 a.m. on Monday, July 8, as nonresident antlerless sales start at 8 a.m. that same day. Lifetime licenses holders will need to renew their licenses for no additional cost.

Two additional rounds for license sales will occur, first on Monday, July 22, starting at 8 a.m., and then again on Monday, Aug. 12, starting at 8 a.m. Permits for the Deer Management Assistance Program will be available on Monday, Aug. 12, as well.

Disabled veterans and active duty military personnel are each guaranteed one antlerless license in the WMU of their choice.

According to the release, “every hunter is allowed to purchase only one antlerless license in each of the first three rounds,” which the release notes is referred to as a hunter’s “personal limit.”

In the fourth round of license sales, beginning on Monday, Aug. 26, hunters will be able to apply for up to three additional antlerless licenses to reach a maximum personal limit of six.

According to the release, “If a hunter reports a harvest, online or by phone, they are immediately able to purchase additional antlerless licenses up to six active licenses, so long as licenses remain available.”

“My staff and I are ready to help our local hunters get any license they might need,” said Colleen Kennedy, treasurer, in the release. “The office will open early at 8 a.m. on Monday, June 24, and Thursday, June 27. I encourage hunters to shop local and get their licenses from my office or from our locally owned businesses, instead of the big box stores, in order to keep that money in our community.”
