UNIVERSITY PARK — Celebrate the global language and enduring spirit of a genre with Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra’s national tour of “Marsalis’ Swinging Cities” at 4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 8, in Eisenhower Auditorium.

The tour is an homage to Marsalis in his final season as artistic director of Jazz at Lincoln Center and music director of the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra.

Tickets are $69 for an adult, $14 for a University Park student, and $23 for a person 18 and younger. Buy your tickets online via the Arts Ticket Center. Avoid the $4 fee by purchasing by phone at 814-863-0255 or in person, weekdays 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., at Eisenhower Auditorium.

The Center for the Performing Arts and the Arts Ticket Center are parts of the Penn State College of Arts & Architecture.

Visit Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra online for more information about a post-event, a VIP Experience offer and to watch a sneak peak of this national tour.

“Marsalis’ Swinging Cities” features compositions inspired by his global journeys and connections made worldwide. The program will include works inspired by his travels to the Basque city of Vitoria in Spain, China’s financial hub of Shanghai; and the medieval town of Marciac, France.

“This is a celebration of the uncommon embrace and unflagging support I have received from different cities during my nearly five decades on the road,” Marsalis said.

This will be the eighth appearance at Penn State by Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra with Wynton Marsalis. The bandleader also has performed at Eisenhower Auditorium with a sextet, and in 2020 in a virtual performance of “The Democracy Suite!” featuring his septet.
