Jones honored with the Jane M. Strickler, MD, award

STATE COLLEGE — The Mount Nittany Health medical staff have announced Christopher Jones, M.D., cardiology and vascular medicine, as the 2022 recipient of the Jane M. Strickler, M.D., Award.

Known for his exceptional commitment to his patients, colleagues and staff, Dr. Jones earned this prestigious award by honoring the standards of innovation, excellence and service set by Strickler.

Jones’ colleague in interventional cardiology, Al Zoda, M.D., FACC, said, “I am privileged to have him as a friend, colleague and fellow Eagles fan. I can think of no one more deserving of this recognition. Dr. Jones is a tremendous asset to Mount Nittany Health, providing excellent and talented cardiac and interventional care to the community.”

A native of State College, Jones played basketball and football for State College Area High School while excelling at academics. Jones went on to graduate cum laude from Princeton University with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry, and earned his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania. He completed his internal medicine residency at Duke University Medical Center and fellowships in general cardiology and interventional cardiology at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center.

Jones is certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, American Board of Internal Medicine – Cardiovascular Disease, American Board of Internal Medicine — Interventional Cardiology and National Board of Echocardiography.

According to one of Jones’ patients, “We are very lucky to have a provider like Dr. Jones in our community.”

Another patient wrote, “I was blessed that Dr. Jones was able to take care of my problem. He was kind and courteous, and took time to put me at ease. Dr. Jones also was patient and talked with my family before the procedure, and after. Thank you.”

The Jane M. Strickler, M.D., Award was established November 6, 2001, by the executive committee of the Medical Staff to honor providers who exemplify innovation, excellence and service by improving the quality of health care and level of health of residents of central Pennsylvania.

Jones was presented with the award on Dec. 8 during the annual Winter Medical Staff Meeting at Mount Nittany Medical Center.
