July is Disability Pride Month. It commemorates the signing of the Americans with Disabilities Act on July 26, 1990. This year’s theme is “The World Works Better with Us.”

It’s a clear statement about inclusion — when people with disabilities are included, respected, and supported, communities work better for everyone. Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania is a proud supporter of ADA and provides 12 programs and services for children and adults with disabilities across 47 counties in Western and Central Pennsylvania.

Programs and services include:

  • Community residential homes, in-home community support, and community participation support for adults with disabilities in Northwestern PA.
  • Early childhood education for children of all abilities in State College
  • Hearing services and speech therapies in Johnstown
  • Approved private schools for preschool and elementary children with disabilities in Allegheny, Westmoreland, and Butler Counties.
  • Workforce support and employment opportunities for adults with disabilities.
  • Camp and recreation opportunities for children and adults with disabilities in Central PA.
  • Weekend retreats for the children of military personnel and veterans.
  • Summer day camp for children with disabilities in Central PA.

Easterseals Western and Central Pennsylvania focuses on equity, inclusion, and access, ensuring all children and adults with disabilities can thrive. Learn more about Easterseals and our involvement in the passage of the Americans with Disabilities Act at www.eastersealswcpenna.org.
