STATE COLLEGE — Juniper Village at Brookline is highlighting its February festivities, creating meaningful connections and fostering creative energy. The events included watercolor painting classes, a nostalgic musical bingo, a Valentine’s Day celebration and philanthropic partnerships.

The goal of these events is to not only enrich the lives of Juniper residents but also to connect with the greater community.

“Musical nostalgia took center stage during the wildly successful Juniper Jukebox Music Bingo event. Julie Foster Studio delighted attendees with captivating performances of musical theater and 1950s classics, while residents and guests embraced the festive atmosphere in their Sock Hop best attire,” Juniper outlined in a statement.

“The event’s success was further enhanced by generous contributions from community partners including PSU Alzheimer Buddies, Advantage Hospice Company, PMX, Grane Hospice Care and 365 Hospice, who provided prize baskets for participants.”

Julie Foster herself even remarked, “We had such a fun time, and the event was wonderfully done.”

The highlights don’t stop there as Juniper Village kept on with the creative spirit where residents got to learn about the joys of water coloring with a class from Connections Associate Diana.

“Participants captured the beauty of nature on canvas, embracing the therapeutic and expressive qualities of art. Diana’s willingness to share her artistic passion created a supportive environment where residents could explore new creative outlets and develop their skills,” Juniper Village continued in a statement.

Juniper Village, residents and community members celebrated Valentine’s Day with fine dining and romance with the Candlelight Valentine’s Dine-In event. More than 50 guests enjoyed chef Penny’s food including a menu featuring Italian Stuffed Chicken, fresh carrots and baked potatoes.

“The culinary experience concluded with tiramisu from Bonfatto’s and chocolate covered strawberries, while champagne from University Wine Company enhanced the elegant atmosphere,” Juniper said in its press release.

“Throughout the evening, the ethereal notes of live harp music performed by Sophie Rusnock transformed the dining space into an intimate concert hall, creating an unforgettable Valentine’s celebration.”

Thanks to the local Dollar Tree, 200 balloons were donated to the dinner event to bring another element of festivity to the celebration.

Valentine’s Day wasn’t the only thing to celebrate in February. Penn State’s annual THON raised a record amount of $17,737,040, supporting pediatric cancer patients and research.

In honor of THON, Penn State students, Juniper Village residents and other associates collaborated for a mini-THON event. Former intern, Nicole Zailer, and her ESA sisters were featured at the event. ESA is an academic sorority at Penn State.

“The event held special significance as Nicole and three of her sorority sisters prepared to participate in the 52nd annual Penn State THON, the world’s largest student-run philanthropy,” Juniper Village continued in its press release.

“These dedicated dancers would spend 48 hours awake and dancing nonstop to raise funds for the fight against childhood cancer. In 2024, ESA raised an impressive $170,000, and Juniper Village expressed pride in partnering with them to support this vital cause.”

In February this year, Juniper Village at Brookline aimed to foster creative expression, community engagement and meaningful connections.

“From artistic explorations to nostalgic musical events and heartfelt celebrations, each activity showcased the community’s dedication to creating enriching experiences that nurture both the creative spirit and meaningful relationships among residents,” Juniper Village concluded.
