BELLFONTE — The Bellefonte Area High School softball team is preparing to open the new season with a mix of returning experience and emerging young talent as the Lady Raiders look to build momentum throughout the year under head coach Erica DeVinney.

The returning PIAA District 6 champions enter the season with a small but determined roster, featuring just 13 players. This group brings strong chemistry and a work-first mentality that the coaching staff believe will help the team compete throughout the season.

When DeVinney was asked about the team this year, she said, “We’re excited about the group we have this year. They show up every day ready to work and compete.”

The Lady Raiders return several players with varsity experience who are expected to provide leadership both on and off the field. Among the returning players are Adrienne Masullo, Abby Herr, Riley Santostefano, Sloan Moore, and Peyton Rimmey — a group that will help guide the younger players stepping into larger roles this spring.

“Each player on the team is important and key to the team’s success,” DeVinney said. “We are excited about the group of girls that we have and we can’t wait to see where the season takes us.”

Bellefonte’s identity this season will be built around consistency, situational softball and a team-first approach. The Lady Raiders feature versatile athletes capable of playing multiple positions, along with a balanced lineup that combines speed, contact hitters and developing power at the plate. Defensively, the team prides itself on strong fundamentals and communication in the field, while the pitching staff offers different looks and strengths that could give opponents trouble.

“Our strength is our togetherness — this team plays for each other, and that shows in how we practice and how we approach games,” DeVinney said.

With a blend of experienced players and younger athletes stepping into bigger roles, Bellefonte’s focus will be on growing as the season progresses while competing in every inning. The team hopes that continued development and resilience will allow them to peak at the right time later in the year. When asked about that Devinney had this to say, “We have a good mix of experience and young talent and we’re looking forward to seeing how this group grows throughout the season.”

As the season begins, the Lady Raiders’ goals remain simple: play with pride, stay mentally tough in pressure moments and represent Bellefonte both on and off the field while embracing a one-team mentality.
