SPRING MILLS — The outlook seems bright for the Lady Rams of Penns Valley this upcoming season.
Last season, the girls posted a 9-8 record and just missed reaching the district finals, falling to Cambria Heights in the tournament’s semi-final round.
“We were very close to getting back to the district title game last season. Our girls still have that fresh in their minds,” said third-year head coach Terrance Green. “We are fortunate to have only lost one key starter from last season. We have the opportunity to do something spectacular this season, we just need to seize the opportunity.” Leah Beben, who was a 3-year varsity player for the Lady Rams has graduated, but returning are seniors Kailen Winkelblech, Katie Romig and Cate Goodwin; juniors Ann-Marie McMurtrie and Avery Dinges; and sophomore Scotty Dinges.
Green said the team is fortunate to have the experience returning that it does, but said Penns Valley will need its younger players to step up when their numbers are called. “Even though we have our core returning, we are going to need good minutes, when necessary, from our younger girls,” he said.
Green will be assisted by Garrett Milner, Kurt Troxell, MacKenzie Ironside and Lily Tedesco.
“We’re hungry,” said Green. “I’m excited to see what this group does this season.”
