Local Domino’s launches “Slice of Kindness” campaign
STATE COLLEGE — The Domino’s pizza restaurant located at 540 Westerly Parkway in State College expects to be busier than usual in November.
Beginning Nov. 1, the popular pizza chain will be offering a free large 1-topping pizza to all Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program and EBT recipients in an effort to support the community as benefits are closed.
U.S. Congress’s failure to pass a budget has caused the federal government to close the program until a budget is passed.
In Pennsylvania, SNAP benefits stopped on Oct. 16 and will not be paid until the federal government provides funding. Also because of the shutdown, the state is unable to begin the 2025-26 LIHEAP season.
“A Slice of Kindness Feeds a Family” is on the top of Domino’s flyers, advertising the program.
According to owner Jasmine Rubelowsky, anyone who presents their EBT or SNAP card at the register receives the free pizza starting Nov. 1. No additional purchase is necessary.
“We will do a one-time redemption per recipient,” Rubelowsky said in a statement.
Additionally, the chain is offering a reward for donations to the local food pantry.
Anyone who brings four or more non-perishable food items to the State College location between Nov. 6 and Nov. 26 will receive a small 1-topping pizza as a “thank-you for giving back.” All donations benefit the State College Food Bank.
“Together, we rise — one slice, one meal, one act of kindness at a time,” the flyer states.
