Philipsburg-Osceola’s Carson Long recorded four goals and assisted on another to propel the Mounties to a 5-0 win at Bald Eagle Area on Aug. 31.
The game was scoreless until Long scored at the 20:23 mark off an assist from Hank Hazelton. Evan Bock scored the second goal, with Long assisting at 25:17.
P-O led 2-0 until Long’s scoring boot off a Matt Eirich assist at 55:09. Long and Eirich teamed up again at 57:40. Long’s final goal came at 78:19, with the assist going to Justin Ivicic.
Matt Thompson and Hunter Bell combined to shut out the Eagles. Thompson made six saves, while Bell had two.
The 2-0 Mounties were scheduled to host Johnstown on Sept. 5 in a Laurel Highlands Athletic Conference game and visit Bishop Carroll on Sept. 7.
BEA’S MANEY NETS WINNER
Conner Maney’s goal off an assist from Gabe Foster at the 78:30 mark was the deciding goal in the Bald Eagle Area boys team’s 3-2 win on Aug. 29 in Tyrone.
BEA’s Aiden Bougher scored the first goal at 24:51 after getting an assist from Foster. Tyrone led, 2-1, at halftime, but BEA’s Andy Ream scored at 52:15, with the assist going to Bougher.
“It was a good, hard-fought victory with a lot of grit and determination,” BEA coach Jason Bair said.
BEA goalkeeper Clayton Reigh had three saves. BEA had 16 shots on goal to Tyrone’s seven.
LADY EAGLES POUND DAMSELS
The Bald Eagle Area girls team rolled to a 10-0 rout of Moshannon Valley on Sept. 2 at home.
Sybil Thompson and Makenzie Bickle both pulled off hat tricks, while Khloe Cunningham scored two goals. Adrienne Hacker scored one goal and assisted on two others, while Heidi Eveleth scored a goal and assisted on another.
“The defense played great tonight and limited Mo Valley to one shot,” BEA coach Jared Moore said. “Adrienne Hacker controlled the midfield very well and had great vision, feeding balls through to our forwards. We held possession well today and did a good job finishing the scoring opportunities we created.
“Sybil and Bickle getting hat tricks was also a great accomplishment. They worked really hard today in the attacking. Overall, it was a well-played game, and really helped us to bounce back from our loss last game (to Tyrone).”
Thompson scored unassisted at 6:05, and Cunningham followed unassisted at 9:52. Bickle scored the third goal, with an assist by Sydney Thompson. Cunningham booted a goal off an assist by Abby Hacker at 20:52.
Sybil Thompson’s goal, and Adrienne Hacker’s assist at 32:13, was followed by Bickle and Adrienne Hacker teaming up for a goal at 36:03. Hacker’s goal on a free kick at 39:40 made the score 7-0. Sybil Thompson scored at 49:53 off a Lily Spicer assist.
Eveleth and Savanna Albright teamed up for a goal at 59:03. Bickle scored the final goal off an assist from Eveleth at 71:51.
BEA (1-1) was scheduled to host Bishop Carroll on Sept. 5, visit Richland on Sept. 7 and travel to Central Mountain for a 7 p.m. game on Sept. 9.
RUOFF LIFTS RAMS TO 2ND-OT WIN
Luke Ruoff scored two goals, including the game winning goal in the second overtime, to lift the Penns Valley boys team over Central, 2-1, on Aug. 31.
Ruoff scored on a penalty kick at the 67:48 mark to tie the score at 1-1. He then scored unassisted at 93:05 in the second overtime.
The Rams (1-2), who lost to Hollidaysburg, 4-2, on Aug. 29, were scheduled to host Somerset on Sept. 5.
