STATE COLLEGE — Schlow Library is inviting the community to join muralist Margalo Guo on Friday, Oct. 4, to help paint a mural on the walls of the library’s parking area.
From noon to 2 p.m. and 4:30 to 6:30 p.m., community members can help Guo paint a mural that will transform the library’s parking lot into “a realm of fantasy inviting adventure to all who enter,” according to a statement from Schlow Library. The mural is in partnership with 3 Dots Downtown.
“This residency is supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, and is made possible in part by federal funds from the Institute of Museum and Library Services administered by the Pennsylvania Department of Education, Office of Commonwealth Libraries,” the statement noted.
“Schlow is inviting everyone in the community, in the spirit of ‘The Dot’by Peter Reynolds to, ‘make your mark and see where it goes,’” the statement shared.
Guo is an oil painter and muralist based in Ithaca, New York and will work on the mural for multiple days. However, the community is encouraged to help add to the mural as the work progresses. Supplied will be provided and all ages are welcome.
Library staff will be available for assistance during the event at the ramp leading into the parking garage.
