CENTRE COUNTY — The competition at Happy Valley Ironman 70.3 is steep, and though the competitors race against each other, more so, they all race to reach their personal best. Finishing an Ironman is no easy feat, regardless of the finishing time. Still, these were the top 10 finishers of the 2024 race:
KIEL BUR
Bur, an American who ran for team Every Man Jack, cinched first place by completing the race in 04:25:02. He finished the swim portion in 28:12, the bike portion in 02:27:21 and the running portion in 01:24:17.
FERNANDO MALUF
Maluf, from Brazil, ran for EC Pinheiros and came in second place, finishing in 04:27:45. He finished the swim portion in 29:20, the bike portion in 02:32:09 and the running portion in 1:22:18, which was two minutes quicker than Bur’s run.
EZRA SWELL
Swell, an American who, like first place finisher Bur, ran for team Every Man Jack, came in third place with a time of 04:30:09. He finished the swim portion in 28:44, almost one minute quicker than the second-place finisher, the bike portion in 02:31:54, coming in, again, just before second-place finisher Maluf, and the running portion in 01:24:43.
JUAN CALLE
Calle, an American who ran for Dynamo Multisport, finished the race in 04:30:59. He completed the swim portion in 27:30, significantly quicker than the top three finishers, the bike portion in 02:28:32, which was faster than the second- and third-place finishers, and the running portion in 01:29:51.
MARK ROMANO
Romano, an American who ran for USAFA Triathlon Team, was the first to finish the swim portion in 25:23. He finished the bike portion in 02:29:28 and the running portion in 1:33:57. He completed the Ironman in 04:32:44.
MATTHEW MARTINO
Martino, an American who, like first-place finisher Bur, ran for team Every Man Jack, finished the Ironman competition in 04:34:30. He completed the swim portion in 31:15, the biking portion in 2:36:33 and the running portion in 01:21:37.
CHARLIE MITCHELL
Mitchell, an American, completed the Ironman in 04:35:45. He finished the swim portion in 29:48, the bike portion in 02:37:23 and the run portion in 01:23:32.
ANKA TEZCAN
Tezcan, an American who ran for Team Every Man Jack, completed the Ironman triathlon in 04:42:56. He completed the swim portion in 32:59, the bike portion in 02:35:27 and the running portion in 01:29:09.
RICH ULIANA
Uliana, an American who ran for Top Gunz Tri Team, completed the Ironman race in 04:44:53. He finished the swimming portion in 32:50, the biking portion in 02:34:29 and the running portion in 01:31:18.
GARRISON FAMIGLIO
Famiglio, an American who ran for The Cupcake Cartel, clocked in at 04:45:10. He finished the swimming portion in 29:45, the biking portion in 02:35:24 and the running portion in 01:34:57.
