Boalsburg Fire Company Carnival — Thursday, May 22 through Monday, May 26
The annual carnival is back for another year from Thursday, May 22, to Monday, May 26, at the Boalsburg Fire Hall.
The carnival will be open from 6 to 10 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, the parade lineup will start at 3 p.m., with vendors opening at 4 on Saturday, open from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday and open from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Memorial Day Monday.
At the carnival, there will be food, games, rides and much more. There will be a BBQ Chicken Dinner on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Monday with Fire Company food stands open throughout the carnival.
The food booths are cash only and the carnival will have an ATM on-site.
Memorial Day Ceremony at Sayer’s Dam — Friday, May 23
There will be a Memorial Day Ceremony at Sayer’s Dam in Blanchard starting at 6 p.m. on Friday, May 23.
The event is sponsored by the Centre and Clinton County Veterans Affairs and Commissioners Offices, as well as the Howard Area Lions Club.
The ceremony will highlight several speakers and local leaders.
A Walk to Remember Our Fallen — Saturday, May 24
A Soldier’s Hands, a nonprofit partner of Carry the Load, is hosting this year’s A Walk to Remember Our Fallen at 8 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg.
Carry the Load looks for ways to connect Americans with the importance of Memorial Day.
Guests are asked to come and walk to honor and acknowledge those who have lost their lives defending the country, or bring to come and listen to people’s stories, keeping in mind #WhoAreYouCarrying.
Bellefonte VFW Post 1600 Soldiers Hands Service — Saturday, May 24
The Bellefonte VFW Post 1600 is hosting its Soldiers Hands service at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg.
VA Memorial Day and Gold Star Families Memorial Plaque Dedication Ceremony — Saturday, May 24
The James E. Vandt VA Medical Center is hosting its Memorial Day and Gold Star Families Memorial Plaque Dedication Ceremony from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, at the medical center in Altoona.
The ceremony honors and remembers the military personnel who lost their lives while in service.
Boalsburg Fire Company Memorial Day Parade — Saturday, May 24
The Boalsburg Fire Company Memorial Day Parade will line up at 3 p.m. on Saturday, May 24, leaving from Blue Spring Park in Boalsburg.
Parade participants are asked to enter at West Main Street from Shingletown Road. The route goes as follows, starting at Blue Spring Park, the parade will head east on Pine Street, making a right onto Boal Avenue before making a right onto Main Street. Then the parade will head west on Main Street to Wagner Street, ending back at Blue Spring Park.
Battle Cry of Freedom: A Civil War Experience — Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25
The Pennsylvania Military Museum in Boalsburg is hosting a living experience, Battle Cry of Freedom: A Civil War Experience, from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, May 24 and Sunday, May 25.
Visitors can explore the lifestyles, cultures and values of the armies battling in the American Civil War. There will be programming through both days for guests to make deeper connections this Memorial Day weekend.
Event parking is $5 per car, and there will also be the Civil War Remembered: A Lantern Tour around the Boalsburg Cemetery at 7 p.m. on Saturday.
2025 Memorial Day Remembrance Service — Monday, May 26
Haky/Georgiana Centre County Funeral Home invites the public to commemorate the lives of loved ones at noon on Monday, May 26, at Centre County Memorial Park in State College.
The event features Reverend Reene Ford as the clergy officiant, former U.S. Air Force Captain David Dimmick as the keynote speaker and military honors will be rendered by the State College American Legion Post 245.

There will be a celebration for Memorial Day at the Columbus Chapel and Boal Mansion Museum from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, May 26.
At the event, there will be special museum tours, live music, horse and carriage rides, historic demonstrations and reenactments, food and drinks and kids’ activities.
The event’s parking is $10 per car.
