BELLEFONTE — During this week’s Board of Commissioners meeting, the YMCA’s Military Share Program received a donation of almost $3,000 from Hometown Hero Banners.
The Hometown Hero Banner program gives the opportunity to honor our hometown heroes who are veterans, POW/MIA or first responders. Community members can apply to have a banner created for a hometown hero and have it displayed in downtown Bellefonte.
Each banner costs $200 to be displayed for two years, and profits from this program are used to give back to those who have served or are serving our community. If you would like to honor a hometown hero, you can fill out an application at visitbellefonte.com/hometown-here-banners.
This year, Hometown Hero Banners generated approximately $3,000 in proceeds, which were donated to the YMCA’s new Military Share Program, which distributes food to veterans, military spouses and active-duty soldiers.
Food will be distributed through the Military Share Program on the second Monday of each month, beginning at 10 a.m., at C3 Sports & Event Center (200 Ellis Place, State College).
If you are eligible for the Military Share Program, you can register online at ymcaofcentrecounty.org or contact Mel Curtis (mcurtis@ymcaocc.org) of Moshannon Valley YMCA.
