BELLEFONTE — Bellefonte Red Raiders girls soccer senior captain Sydney Miller earned Centre County Gazette Athlete of the Month honors for October 2026.
The forward/midfielder has been the primary offensive threat for a Bellefonte unit which finished 11-3-1 and fourth in the Laurel Highlands conference this season.
The four-year varsity player notched team highs with 54 points, 8 assists and 23 goals — which marked her second season surpassing 20+ goals in her career.
Miller carried her season-long form into the final stretch of play, in which she put up two four-goal nights. She did so first on Sept. 29 against Greater Johnstown and again on Oct. 14 against Phillipsburg-Osceola.
Those two performances just highlight what has been a phenomenal final month of regular season play for Miller as she scored 12 goals and provided five assists throughout eight games in October. Bellefonte went 5-3 over that stretch.
“Sydney is a captain and great leader for the team. She has matured in her leadership role and her play is reflective of such. She leads by example both on and off the field,” Bellefonte girls soccer coach Stacey Miller wrote in an email. “(She Brings) Leadership, team-first mentality, hard work, a good work ethic and versatility. Sydney can play any position we need to put her in to help the team.”
Beyond her attacking prowess, Miller can play almost any position on the pitch and she was named to the LHAC All-Conference First Team last season as a defender. Bellefonte is currently the No. 1 seed in the PIAA D-AAAA Girls Soccer with a matchup set for Central Mountain or Hollidaysburg.
