Geisinger to host appreciation dinners for veterans

STATE COLLEGE —   Geisinger will host drive-through veteran appreciation dinners on Thursday, Nov. 6 at the Geisinger Healthplex State College location at 132 Abigail Lane, Port Matilda. It will serve drive-through meals from 4 to 5:30 p.m. The dinners for U.S. military veterans and a guest are offered at no cost to participants. Servings are limited, and those interested are encouraged to sign up now. Veterans can make a reservation for themselves and one guest by visiting go.geisinger.org/vetsdinner2025 or calling 570-293-7200. The deadline to register is Thursday, Oct. 30. 

College financial aid workshop

CENTRE HALL — Centre Hall Area Branch Library will host a presentation by the Pennsylvania Higher Education Assistance Agency on Wednesday, Oct. 15 at 6 p.m. The session will cover the ins and outs of undergraduate financial aid and include time for questions from the audience. Biking in the Borough class

STATE COLLEGE — Sustainable State College and State College Bicycle Ambassadors are hosting a free “Biking in the Borough” educational class. Meet other bike enthusiasts on Tuesday, Oct. 14 from 6:15 to 7:30 p.m. at the State College Municipal Building, Room 241. Registration is required and limited spots are available. R-VOICE 40th Celebration Brunch

STATE COLLEGE — Relationship Violence Outreach, Intervention, and Community Education Center is celebrating 40 years of supporting, advocating, and educating students and the entire Penn State community on Sunday, Oct. 12 at 10 a.m. for a 40th Celebration Brunch at the Graduate Hotel in State College. There will be a buffet, student performers, special guests, speakers, and an epic, historical walkthrough of the last 40 years.  All guests must register by Oct. 6 at forms.office.com/r/pMi42XgeDN. Penn State students are welcome to attend at no cost but must register to reserve their seat. Faculty, staff, and the community are asked to consider a $50 donation to the Survivor Support Fund and must complete a registration.

Meet State College Poet Laureate

STATE COLLEGE — Meet Carmin Wong, the inaugural Poet Laureate of the Borough of State College. Wong is a celebrated poet, playwright, and educator. Her first event as Poet Laureate will be a Mix and Mingle event on Thursday, Oct. 9, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. in the Fraser Street Commons, 115 South Fraser St.
