P-O, Bellefonte, State College playoffs 2025

CENTRE COUNTY — Bellefonte and State College both win District 6 Baseball Championships. Philipsburg-Osceola drops a 9-2 decision to Tyrone in the AAA Quarterfinals.

NO. 1 BELLEFONTE VS NO. 2 JUNIATA

D6, 4A Final

Bellefonte 10, Juniata 0

The Raiders knocked out 16 hits, scored five runs in the first inning and went on to a 10-0, five-inning victory over Juniata in the D6, 4A Final in Bellefonte.

Bellefonte added two runs in the third inning and then completed the 10-run rule win with three runs in the bottom of the fifth.

On the mound, Zach Lehman threw a two-hit shutout with six strikeouts and just one walk.

Evan Mattern had three hits and three RBIs for the Raiders, and Lehman helped himself with three hits and two RBIs.

Bellefonte will now move on to the Regional Tournament with the winner qualifying for the PIAA Tournament.

NO. 1 STATE COLLEGE VS NO. 3 MIFFLIN COUNTY

D6, 6A Final

State College 7, Mifflin County 6 

State College first baseman Ryden Walker hit a walk-off RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning as the Little Lions won their 20th District 6 Championship with a 7-6 win over Mifflin County.

Playing on Mount Aloysius College on Tuesday, May 20, the two teams battled back-and-forth until Mifflin County tied the game in the top of the sixth inning at 6-6.

In the bottom of the seventh, Derek Moriarta and Kellen Williams led off with singles and were moved up with a sacrifice bunt by Max Herncane.

Finn Powers was then walked intentionally to load the bases and set up a possible inning-ending double play.

But Walker lined a single up the middle, and State College had the 6A Championship.

The win will send the Little Lions to the Regional Tournament, possibly against District 10 rival Erie McDowell.

The winner will advance to the PIAA State 6A Tournament.

NO. 5 PHILIPSBURG-OSCEOLA VS. NO. 4 TYRONE

D6, 3A Quarterfinal

Tyrone 9, Philipsburg-Osceola 2

The No. 4 seeded Tyrone Golden Eagles scored five runs in the first two innings against Philipsburg-Osceola in their D6, 3A Quarterfinal Game on Monday, May 19, and then went on to complete a 9-2 victory over the No. 5 Mounties.

The Mounties closed the gap to 5-2 in the top of the fourth inning on an RBI double by Nick DeSimone, but Tyrone quickly answered in the bottom of the inning with a three-run rally that moved the score up to 8-2.

Tyrone was led by Landon Hamer, who had a home run, a double and a single with two RBIs.

The Eagles collected 11 hits in all while two pitchers were holding P-O to seven hits and two runs.

Archer Baughman led the Mounties with three hits, DeSimone had two with an RBI and Fischer White got the other RBI on a fielder’s choice.

White put Philipsburg in the lead in the first inning with a ground out that scored Baughman. 

Tyrone countered with three runs in the bottom of the inning, and then the Eagles made it 5-1 when Hamer hit a two-run shot in the bottom of the second.

Lucas Peterson doubled for P-O to start the fourth inning and two outs later, DeSimone’s double made it 5-2. 

In the bottom of the fourth, Tyrone used a two-run double and an RBI single to increase its lead to 8-2 with three innings to play.

The loss ended the Mounties’ season with a final record of 13-5 for the 2025 season.

Tyrone will move on to the Semifinals to face either No. 1 Forest Hills or No. 8 West Shamokin.
