PHILIPSBURG —Philipsburg-Osceola junior running back Damarcus Law was named the Centre County Gazette Athlete of the Month for September 2026.

Law has been one of the main catalysts for the success of the Mounties this fall as they have now won four games in a row and stand at 4-1 for the 2026 season.

After running the ball just six times for 12 yards in P-O’s opening loss at Central on Aug. 28, Law has torn it up in all four Mountie wins in September.

It began in Week 2 when he ran for 133 yards and 4 touchdowns in his team’s victory over Chestnut Ridge, and he followed that with a 220-yard, 3 touchdown performance against Clearfield the next week. The highlight of that game was his 90-yard kickoff return to open the second half.

In the Mounties’ narrow victory at Penns Valley, Law ran 12 times for 133 yards, and then he finished the month with a 122-yard, one touchdown performance in the Mounties’ big win over Bald Eagle Area on Friday night.

In all, Law surpassed the 120-yard rushing mark in four straight games — all P-O wins — and scored 7 touchdowns.

Law now stands at 620 yards rushing, 54 receiving, and 171 return yards for an average of 169 all-purpose yards per game.

And in addition to his contributions on the field, according to P-O head coach Jeff Vroman, Law is a hard worker and a positive leader on the Mountie team.

“Damarcus has had a great start to this season,” Vroman said. “He would give the majority of the credit to the guys who block for him and give him an opportunity to be successful.

“He comes to practice with a great attitude and looks to get better each day.  He has elite speed and the athleticism to run, catch, and throw the ball, which we continue to build upon. Damarcus has improved on his run blocking skills and this improvement has also helped his teammates in the backfield.

“His humble personality is also something his teammates respect.  He knows that football is a team sport and it takes everyone doing their job for the team to be successful.”

Law is also an elite track athlete who has run a 40-yard dash in 4.41 seconds.

He finished 2nd in the 200m and 3rd in the 100m in last year’s District 6 Track and Field Championships, and he came in 6th in the 100m dash in the PIAA State Championships with a time of 11.16 seconds.

Law and the Mounties will next be in action at Bellwood-Antis on Friday night in a game matching two 4-1 teams.
