Penn State track and field compete in Duke Invitational

DURHAM, N.C. — Penn State track and field competed in the Duke Invitational on Saturday, April 12, in Durham, North Carolina. Both the men’s and women’s teams competed in the World Rankings Competition.

Maddie Pitts took over the show on the women’s side, starting with a new personal record in the 100-meter hurdles with a 13.65, the seventh best time in program history. She then finished first in the 100-meter and 800-meter races.

Pitts ended the day with 5,184 points, the third most in group A.

Maddie Soderqvist also flaunted her abilities competing in the 100-meter hurdles, the high jump and shot put. She placed second in the hurdles with her personal best time of 14.74. Then moved to the field where she finished eighth in the high jump and first in shot put with another personal record.

On the men’s side, Isaac Osifo placed second in the high jump with a 2.06-meter jump. Robert Allen also placed in the event with a 2.01-meter jump for fifth place.

Penn State track and field team continued the outdoor season with the Bison Outdoor Classic in Lewisburg, Pennsylvania on Saturday, April 12, to Sunday, April 13.
