STATE COLLEGE — No. 4 Penn State women’s volleyball improved to 25-2 over the weekend of Nov 17.
Two hard fought Big Ten conference games were a bounce back from the team’s second loss of the season to No. 7 Wisconsin on Saturday, Nov. 9.
In the first game against Illinois, a 3-0 sweep pushed the Nittany Lions to 13-0-0 at Rec Hall this season. The sets went 25-23, 25-18 and 25-21.
Camryn Hannah led the way, hitting .360 with 13 kills. Izzy Starck’s 31 assists also helped Penn State dominate.
Two days later, the Nittany Lions displayed similar dominance in a 3-1 victory over Maryland at the Xfinity Center Pavilion.
The story of the match was Penn State’s lethal offense. Four Nittany Lions had double digit kills and the team produced 10 aces. Quinn Menger led the team with three aces.
The sets went 25-13, 22-25, 25-13 and 25-15. In the second set, Maryland’s Lilly Gunter recorded seven digs, slowing down the Penn State attack. The Nittany Lions hit at just .167 during their only dropped set.
Next up, the Nittany Lions will play No. 8 Purdue in a huge Big Ten matchup on Thursday, Nov. 21 at Rec Hall.
