Philipsburg Elks holds 2026 Member-Guest Tournament

PHILIPSBURG — With 104 golfers competing, one of the biggest turnouts in years, the Philipsburg Elks Golf Club held its annual Member-Guest Tournament over the past weekend.

The tournament ran over three days that featured a Practice Round on Friday with a Low Net Team prize, skins and a Par 3 Derby.

On Saturday, the two-man teams played a Scramble format on the front nine and a Better Ball format on the back nine.

And on Sunday it was a better ball on the front and a shamble on the back.

Prizes were awarded for gross and net scores, closest to the pins on holes 4, 9, 11, 13, and 18, straightest drive and longest putt. 

The overall tournament winners were the teams of Max Lauffer and Payton Guelich and Bryce Ferrell and Justin Geary who tied with a four-round total of 17-under par 123. 

At 15-under, 125 were Aaron Thompson and Brennen Legard and Mike Socash and Trevor Kephard. 

And three teams tied at 14-under, 126: Joe Schraf and Tyler Martin, Eric Reifer and Todd Reifer, and Robert McGhee and Thomas Reitz.

Robert Mitchell and Ryan Nartatez and Lauffer and Guelich won the Shamble; Ferrell and Geary won the Scramble, and Ferrell and Geary took the two-day Best Ball with a 9-under 61.

Closest to the Pin on 4/13 was won by Lauffer with a shot within 15 inches, and Terry Glunt won the Closest to the Pin on 9/18 was won by Terry Glunt with a distance of 5-feet, 7 inches.

Glunt also won the straightest drive, 30-inches from center, and Gage Thompson won the Longest Putt, 21-feet, 7-inches.

The next tournaments coming up at the Elks Club will be the P-O Mountie Matman on August 15 and the Paul Bradley Memorial on September 12.
