Philipsburg-Osceola golfers shine

The LHAC golf season has begun in earnest with two multi-team matches and two dual matches in the past week.

Here’s a look at what is happening:

Philipsburg-Osceola golf team went 6-0 in a seven-team LHAC match at Mountain View Country Club.

The Philipsburg-Osceola golf team came in first place in a seven-team LHAC golf match held at Mountain View CC on August 14.

The Mounties shot a 333-team score, six strokes better than second place Huntingdon and 13 better than third place Bedford.

Jake Lucas paced P-O with a 79 while Ryan Kolbe came in with an 81 and Ben Peterson shot an 83. Rounding out the team were Parker Lamb with 90 and Nick DeSimone with a 94.

Bishop Carroll’s Jace Casses took medalist honors in the match with a 78, and his team finished in fourth place with a 3-3 record for the day.

Penns Valley finished seventh in the tournament with Joe Holden turning in the best score for the Rams.

The match was the first league outing for P-O this season after the team began the year by participating in the Happy Valley Invitational at Penn State.

The Mounties are now 6-0 in the new season.

In other LHAC action, Bishop Guilfoyle went 6-1 in the eight-team match held at Summit Country Club on August 14.

Aiden Sheehan took honors for BG in the match with a 79, but Westmont-Hilltop ultimately won the day with a 304 and a 7-0 record.

Bellefonte finished with a 360 and in fifth place with a 3-4 record.

Finally, the Bald Eagle Area golf team got off to a good start with a 389-444 win over Sugar Valley Rural Charter School. 

Kane Wolf shot a 77 to lead the way for BEA, while Wade Havovick added an 82. Graysen White had a 106 and Braylon Kraynak shot 124.
