On Saturday, May 16, Philipsburg Borough launched its America 250 festivities with The Armed Forces Day Celebration at the Moshannon Valley Veterans Memorial. The America 250 themed celebration was a salute to the armed forces of the United States — Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, Space Force and the Coast Guard. Calvin Hanes (USAF Ret.) was the Master of Ceremonies of the event that included a POW/MIA Remembrance by Dana Bell, a presentation of a Quilt of Honor by the Moshannon Valley Quilters, and guest speakers, state Rep. Dallas Kephart, R-Clearfield/Cambria, and Brigadier Gen. Maureen Weigl, Deputy Adjutant General for Veterans Affairs.
