STATE POLICE AT ROCKVIEW

State police responded to an ATV crash around 2:30 a.m. on Sunday, Oct. 27, along Casanova Road in Rush Township. According to police, a 37-year-old Milesburg woman was driving a 2015 Kawasaki KRT800C ATV with a 38-year-old male passenger when she failed to negotiate a right curve and hit a tree on the left side of the road before spinning out. The 38-year-old male passenger, who according to officers was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the ATV and was taken to the hospital with suspected serious injuries. The 37-year-old Milesburg woman was cited for the crash and also taken to the hospital with suspected serious injuries.


State police responded to a report of a disabled vehicle just before midnight on Monday, Oct. 28, along Interstate 80 in Boggs Township. According to police, a 31-year-old Durham, North Carolina, man was arrested on suspicion of driving under the influence. State police did not report additional details.


State police responded to a crash that occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 1, along Interstate 80 in Boggs Township. According to police, a 30-year-old New Hyde Park, New York, man was driving a 2020 Freightliner Cascadia when an unexpected brake failure occurred while the driver was navigating an exit. The Freightliner was unable to stop and crossed the road before hitting a guide rail and making a final rest after hitting a set of train tracks. While the vehicle remained upright, the tractor-trailer overturned onto its side, rupturing fuel tanks. State police did not report any injuries.


State police are investigating multiple scams pertaining to Megan’s Law around 7:45 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 4. According to police, Megan’s Law offenders are being contacted by a man claiming to be from the local sheriff’s office advising the offenders that warrants for arrest have been issued for them due to failure to submit updated DNA samples. The suspect then instructed the offenders to go to Walmart and send him money via a money-transfer service to avoid going to jail. State police at Rockview said law enforcement will never contact an individual to extort money from them.
