State police are investigating a jewelry theft that occurred around 12:30 p.m. on Monday, Oct. 28, along East College Avenue, in Walker Township. According to police, a diamond engagement ring worth $5,000, a gold wedding band worth $300, a gold onyx pendent worth $67.46, a gold rope chain worth $209.40, a Notre Dame dome necklace worth $175, a black onyx necklace, a blue onyx necklace and an oval onyx necklace were all reported stolen from a Bellefonte woman.


State police are investigating a case of fraud and theft by deception that occurred around noon on Friday, Nov. 8, along Thompson Lane in Penn Township. According to police, an email scam frauded an 85-year-old Millheim woman out of $1,150. The suspect sent the victim an email pretending to be someone the victim knew and requested a check for $1,150. The Millheim woman then mailed the check to a post office in Oregon. The investigation was able to place a stop on the check and get the victim’s money back, but state police were unable to locate a suspect.


State police responded to a report of a car battery being thrown through a window around 4 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 14, along East Presqueisle Street in the Philipsburg Borough. According to police, the damage caused to the window was worth about $500. State police did not release additional information, but the incident is under investigation.
